  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just received an email from Hyundai BlueLink saying that starting May 15th the following parts of the guidance package will no longer be supported:

Daily Route Guidance with Traffic Conditions
Gas Station Prices and Locations
Restaurant Ratings
Traffic
Weather
Eco-Coach

WTH??? The only parts of it that will remain are Destination powered by Google and Turn-By-Turn Navigation. That is one big drop of the ball IMO on Hyundai's part and I just purchased the service last month. This is confirmed FYI, I spoke directly with customer service at Hyundai BlueLink.

Say it ain't so! That's not just part of Guidance Pkg, that's most of it. And I'm paid up till 5/2016. Holy crap. :(

I am paid till 2016 also and yes that's the bulk of the package for sure. This is becoming standard in cars well below this class, not sure what they are thinking getting rid of it.

I bought 2013 Genesis with Tech pkg Jan '13 and purchased Bluelink. This year I decided not to renew. The only thing I really used was the ability to send sites from my pc to the car and even that wasn't as easy as I thought it should be.
The price just wasn't worth what I got from the service.
The monthly report on cars performance ???? I can tell if the car is running OK without having to have to be told.

Thank You gameday22 for the post. You just saved me some mulla. I was planning on getting BlueLink when I buy my Genesis. Thanks again...

I called yesterday as soon as I got the email. I was on hold for about 20 minutes, and it became clear by the end of the call that I was on hold for so long because their call center was flooded with people complaining about the change. Unfortunately, it appears that even Hyundai doesn't know what's going on as I was told (and repeated for confirmation) that the changes were happening this month not next, and Eco Coach is not going away. The $99 price tag for the tier is staying, however.

Hyundai has really screwed this up. So the third tier of Blue Link has lost the vast majority of its services but retained the $99 price point, and that's supposed to be ok? Wow. Furthermore, these services have components built-in to the car, so what now? If I go to Eco Coach in the car, what happens? Is that option going to be there any more? The reason I ask is because it seems that Hyundai is also stripping features out of the car itself as a result of this mess.

Nope... I won't be renewing Blue Link after this.

Everyone who has this service should call in for a refund and cancel their BlueLink services, the hard part is getting everyone to do it....most people just accept it for what it is and don't fight the "system" lol.

I called in and fully cancelled mine, the customer service rep. had to put me on the phone with a supervisor who after delaying for a while finally agreed to refund my money.

These are the types of things that can sway me away from a new Genny, why would you get rid of something so useful as gas prices/locations??? I have used that feature several times now since November, I don't like that you have to connect to get the prices etc....my Garmin just shows me the best prices around me when traveling...but beyond that it does work.

Going forward, it's going to make less and less economic sense for Hyundai and other manufacturers to provide the infrastructure required to support services such as traffic updates, weather, traffic, and fuel prices. Drivers will increasingly rely on smartphones integrated with their car's display and controls to do these things, and they'll be able to customize far more than they could before.

Of course, that doesn't justify Hyundai pulling the rug out from under current BlueLink subscribers. At the least, they should provide a full refund for anyone who purchased the Guidance service.

With the upcoming CarPlay, this will be even more understandable (not the way they handled it). Smartphones have better apps for all those services and when you can essentially run it from the cars large display unit soon, those other services will be ancient tech.

That is exactly my point Waveman......

I get that part and it makes sense, but basically what they are doing is screwing over current generation owners. While the BlueLink 2.0 has expansion capabilities for Android/iPhone apps. and such we don't. Also like I said my cheesy $99 Garmin gives me up to date gas prices, Eco-Drive, restaurants etc. as I travel plus free lifetime map updates and traffic........there is no reason my car shouldn't considering how much the service costs each year.
