  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday I was hit from behind on the freeway and spun into the concrete median. Damage is 3 of the 4 quarter panels, 2 or 3 rims and tires, and front and rear bumpers, along with passenger side curtain airbag deployment. Maybe more, and who knows about structural damage, but that's all I was able to photograph before the medics boarded me. I feel fine today, but we'll see how i am in another couple days.

Not only was the other driver at fault, but he proceeded to pull me out of my car and assault me afterward. Fortunately police arrived promptly and he was arrested and cited for the accident.

My goal is to have my 2012 3.8 restored as close to OEM specs as possible. To that end, does anyone have any recommendations for body shops in the central Ohio (Columbus) area? Alternatively, has anyone had accident repairs done through their Hyundai dealer?

Thanks in advance!

I would expect the car to be totaled by the insurance company. Quarter panels= 9000.00, Airbags = 3000.00, bumpers=4000.00 rims and tires 1000.00 plus what you did not see or comment on.

Get your lawyer working on an assault lawsuit. The subsequent settlement should put you into a Bentley or, at minimum, a '15 Genesis.

That would not be good, as the huge depreciation on the car has me underwater on my loan...

Good argument for saving your pennies and buying cars with cash

Give no medical info to the other person's insurance company. don't sign any releases. You will get a lot of $$$ on the out of court settlement. Contact your Lawyer.

Great points. Meeting with my attorney tomorrow.

Important question is, though, when I get access to my car on Tuesday, to what repair facility should I have it towed?

Don't do anything with your car. Get the Insurance company of the person that hit you to get you a comparable rental car asap and drive the rental until the property liability is settled and/or you have your car back repaired to your satisfaction. Don't ever accept a car from the repair shop if its not right and needs additional work. If its in a tow lot now the other person's insurance is paying. You should leave it where it is until the person's insurance company's adjustor looks at your car and determines the damage. The assault and medical is handle separately.

Totaled.

On that note, be sure to push for a settlement to at least pay off the car. That is very conservative as well. Should get more.
