  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This car is starting to nickle and dime me. Anyways, somehow, both driver's side door locks (front and rear) have magically stopped working at the exact same time. No clicking, no response to the keyless or in car unlock/lock buttons. I've tried the door lock reset by pulling the connector under the dash as seen in some online videos as well as disconnected the battery to no avail.

Any ideas? I've also checked any of the fuses that I believe would be related to the doors but they all seem fine. If it is the actuators, it seems odd to me that they would both go out at the exact same time.

As an aside, I've also been experiencing an issue where my head unit has been resetting while driving, resetting the manual clock and changing my units from C back to Fahrenheit. It happens when steering at low speeds in parking lots - the steering wheel gets very heavy, almost like there is no power assist. Not sure if this has anything to do with the locks issue but I noticed the manual clock reset in the same fashion when I pulled the connector under the dash.... Seemed like a similar symptom...

Any ideas or anything else I can try??

Check the battery and its connections first all those electrical gremlins often come from a weak or failing battery. If that's not it, the problem is likely the door module or a bad ground, not the individual locks. Get the charging system tested, especially since you're losing power steering. That part is a safety issue and needs a pro look.

Appreciate the response. Ill take a look at the battery terminals next and maybe add some battery post shims if they are loose. Ill also get the battery load tested - thanks for the advice.

As an aside - I was out driving this past weekend and after about 20min of driving, the drivers side door lock magically started working again yet the rear drivers side door lock was still dead. 20 min after that, they were both working as expected. WTF?

Hopefully it is just some electrical gremlins as you noted due to a weak/failing battery.

Thanks!
