  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi folks, first message here. Bought a 14 2.0T at flood auction in Houston for $5k. Water line was about 2/3 up the wheel. Sat in water for about a day, fresh water. No water ingested. Was wondering if anyone else here has had any water damage and or advice. Any info appreciated.

Change all fluids, including engine oil, transmission, differential, brake, radiator, power steering, etc.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. $5k, huh? You might have got a really good deal there. Keep us posted on how things are coming along with it...

Let it dry out with seats, carpets and interior door panels off. Do not connect battery until the car has dried out for about two weeks with interior parts out. this makes sure there is no moisture in wiring that will cause a short and destroy electronics in car.

Something tells me he drove it home from the auction. Just guessing.

Rice. Pour rice everywhere. I'm not joking.

That does seem to work for cell phones so I imagine it would work for a flooded car as well...
