  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

90% of driving is in the city. brake pads looks like they need replacing soon. Thinking of getting better brakes perhaps bigger rotors and pads used in the G80 sport. Sure like to hear everyone’s opinion. Thanks in advance

Get new OEM pads, and drive slower.

How many miles did you get out of the original pads? Why do you want to go bigger? In city driving you tend to use the brakes often but not hard like you may do on the back roads driving a Sport at high speed and hard stops. Seems like a lot of expense for little to no gain. If the brakes wore out prematurely, review your driving habits too. Now that I'm older brakes do last longer that my early driving years.

Complete waste of money. You need bigger brakes if you're going to track the car, or drive aggressively for extended periods. For city driving - a complete waste of $$$

This beast is heavy. Cannot tell you how many times I thought I was gonna rear end somebody. I feel I need more stopping power. Yes like to the drive spirited sometimes. Bigger rotors and pads will inspire more confidence and safety.

Sounds like a rationalization to me. They will promote overconfidence and less safety. But hey, it is your life.

Maybe the guy in front of you will appreciate the larger brakes too.

Maybe you should get some better tires first than brakes. Its only as good as available traction, so a 8 pot 15in brake kit wont save you on shitty all season tires.

First objective response. Tires are OK OEM Michelin tires. Brakes never really locked up no skids. just under power. G80 sports has the same size rotors for the front. Only the rears are larger So upgrade cost won’t be significant.

I'd try better tires and a more aggressive pad, the brakes have plenty of power. My other car never skidded but after changing to carbotech pads it really bites hard enough where it will lock the tire a bit before tires are warm. This is a 275/35/18 Michelin pilot super sport tire. This is stock sized rotor as well just pad upgrade.

What size are your brakes? In the UK we get the 4 pot caliper as standard!

I agree! I think the OEM brakes are spongy and take quite a bit of force to stop the car. I leased a 2015 Sonata and those brakes felt fine. Also, I drive a 240SX and have upgraded the brake components, which are very responsive. So, I'm thinking I will do the same with my '16 3.8.

I've been looking and all I've come across are pads and rotors; which I will be going with EBC Yellow Stuff pads and Slotted Rotors. However, I am also thinking of swapping to G80 Sport Calipers (since I love the look) - Anyone have any idea of cost?

The one component I'm having trouble finding are Stainless Steel brake lines. Anyone have any leads?

I recommend getting better pads with more bite first and see if they improve your braking experience before you spend a lot more on bigger brakes that you might not necessarily need.

Of course, that is one of the first steps in upgrading brakes. However, I'd like to know if anyone know of any Stainless Steel brake lines for the Sedan.

I'm at 60,000 kms and the brakes are starting to squeal. Thought about upgrading the brakes but I don't think I'll get any benefit out of it. I'm able to trigger the ABS when I slam the brakes, basically tells me the brake friction is overcoming the tire friction. The weak point is the tires.
