  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I've had my car for about 2500 miles now. I babied it for a while and now starting to let it loose... it's a much bigger car than I'm used to coming from a Miata----Accord coupe (both manual)----now this.

The first thing I noticed is the sound of the engine. I tried not to rev it too much in the early stages but just beginning to hear the character of the car. It's definitely not quiet, which I like. Also, this car is deadly smooth and fast. Sneaky fast. The only thing that's still holding me back is taking turns very aggressively. I don't know if it's the size or the weight, but I'm afraid the tail will slide out or it won't be able to handle a hard turn, haha

Am I nuts? What do you guys think of it's handling...

Hi, even with the ESC turned On it's not to difficult to get a tail slide..Even get it on my V6.. Heres a suggestion, find a local skid pan or even a corner of a private airfield and practice..........Until you know where the limit is you will always be apprehensive about extolling the RSpecs virtues..
I found a couple of dirt track roads near to me, they are ideal for a little hairy motoring........ If you are near a race track call in and I'm sure someone there can put you in touch with a advanced driver/instructor.......
Don't forget, foot hard down, lots of opposite lock and clean underwear when you get home...:D Take Care..........May I suggest an oil & filter change, does wonders for the internals......................

Time to nail it and enjoy it. The ESC will kick in and keep you from going too far. But you will be amased at how nible the big car actually is.

What tires are on the car? The 245 summer tires are quite capable. ;)

Not sure about the 235 all weather tires.

going from FWD and stick, and a larger car... is a trifecta of fun !

listen test the car out on some turns (like off ramps) you will see the back end tend to come out. putting higher then the door pressure in the tires will help with that. car was way too sloppy for me without increasing the pressure.

good luck !

thanks for the replies...

the tires are the standard ones that came with the car. continental procontacts. not really sure how they're going to handle in the winter/snow here in new York.

as for the oil change, I plan to do that at the recommended 3700 mile checkpoint. did you do it earlier?

btw, anyone else notice how the new Honda accord sedan looks almost exactly like the genesis? especially the rims on the ex sedan...

New accord and the new Chrysler 200 ... interesting how similar.

regarding the oil changes... I've always done the 1K oil change to get out any debris from manufacturing. I've never had a car long enough to have engine failure so I honestly cant say if the 1k is worth it. but for a car I could keep a long time always no brainer for me. Note I've never had any oil loss requiring a quart or more in my cars.

My first oil/filter change was at 2500miles..I'm old fashioned..
After that the engine was definitely quieter & had smoother power delivery..
(from 10miles to 2500miles I had put the engine/gearbox thro' heavy, light, freeway and other slightly wilder driving)
No doubt at all, the car is a rocket/sleeper...:D
