  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got home with the R-Spec. Out the door for $40,600 before tax, tag and title. That was the local Circle price - $1,500 competitive - $400 new grad (grad school). Pleasant experience without any issues whatsoever with the dealer. Corwin Hyundai out of Jefferson City Missouri comes highly recommended (if only it were not a two and half hour drive).

Dealer was about a 200 mile drive from where I live so I got fairly acquainted with the car on the way home. Smooth ride on the interstate, but bumps are are definitely noticeable on the in-town roads (and this from a guy with a pickup truck before the Genesis).

The car is beautiful and I love the new design for the front end - the lights look amazing. Black on Black and smoooooooooth looking.

I might be in love.

You lucky dawwwwg. Still waiting for my local dealer to come clean and tell me when they are getting theirs in.

I suspected the suspension would be very firm, but acceptable for a 'race car' of that caliber.

Keep us informed on how it handles and how many tickets you get :)

Awesome! Congratulations! Great price too.

Makes me anxious for mine. Talked to the dealer and he thinks it will be to their lot in a few days.

Cheers,

Did you check the tire pressure before driving off?
My dealer is notorious for keeping the 40LB shipping air at PDI.
Congrats!

Congratulations! I join many others in our envy of your new vehicle.

Would you mind posting photos?

Great price! Some $7500 off sticker?

I'll definitely post a few pictures tonight - the only ones I have right now have my goofy mug smiling ear to ear and barely able to contain the enthusiasm.

Regarding the tire pressure - I did have them double check that before I left but I didn't see them do it (I was signing papers) and I didn't have a gauge to check myself. I'll do that tonight and see for myself.

Overall - I can say the thing that most impresses me about the car is just how well put together it is. Can't really compare it to the non R-Spec as I haven't spent much time in one other than test drives and one weekend-long test drive, but it's kept me grinning like an idiot since yesterday afternoon when I first got in it.

First complaint - iPod integration still seems to be a bit clunky. It always assumes you want to play the music on the device (my iPhone in this case) even when you may just want to charge the phone. Also - if you choose to stream music through Pandora or other similar service, when it's plugged in it automatically stops what's currently playing and plays the default library of music stored on the phone.

First surprise - whisper quiet in the cabin despite that big V8. Haven't really put the pedal to the metal yet, but I'll be sure to provide insight in that regard after an early oil change (following, as best I can, the Popular Mechanics article on break in of a new car: http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/saturday-mechanic-blog/how-to-break-in-a-new-car).

And if you're wondering - I'm still grinning ;)

Newman - the salesman that helped me out said distribution was down for a week but they're starting to get all of their cars more steadily now. Who knows if that was bull$hit to keep me quiet about having to wait a week longer than promised but I guess now that I have the car I'm pleased enough to not care.

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now - nice to finally be a member as an owner of a Genesis.

Might be real or BS - who can tell? In my case I was told exactly how long it would be ahead of time and my car delivery is still on track. After arriving at the dealership it will get back on another truck and travel another 2.5 thousand miles to my house!

Congrats again on your car. And kudos for taking it easy on the
Brand new engine.

Cheers

Try it like this:
Play Pandora, plug in. Yes, the iPod will boot as you described. Double click the home button on the iPhone and you'll see the "tray" with open apps, including Pandora. Touch Pandora. You'll see that it's paused. Tap play and the iPod should stop and Pandora will resume.
Sounds like a pain, but really takes less than 5 seconds.
At least that's how it worked in my Gen...
Good luck!

That's exactly how I got around it as well - minor annoyance I guess and I'm sure I'll get used to it. Thanks for the tip.

congrats, most of us are green with envy lol

Congrads! I test drove the r-spec 2012 genny sedan and put an in depth review on this site. Needless to say I'll be getting one in platinum metallic when available.

Can you please tell me what was your competitive trade vehicle, I know you mentioned you had a truck but did not say if that was your trade. Also was the circle pricing you recieved as an employee or an affiliate? I'll be getting my circle CID from the Hyundai think tank after my 60 days are up.

I agree the ride could be less wild on rough pavement bumps at normal speeds but the only fix for that is an adjustable air suspension prolly a few years away if ever at all. And if I wait for the next best thing, there will never be a new car in my garage lol.

Will you be tinting as black interior can get really hot in summer. If so check out the ceramics as I head they have the best heat rejection withour navi or radio interferences.

Thanks for sharing your info! Still amazed here on your purchase price WHOOOO HOOOO!!!

Congrats Trotti!

Man, that's awesome to hear...hope you enjoy it! It certainly sounds as if Hyundai beefed up that suspension alal Deutschland, which is a godo thing. It's the only *very* minor quibble I have with my 4.6 is that it's a little spongier than I'd like, although given road conditions, I can't complain.

You don't have to actually trade a vehicle in for the competitive rebate - you just need to provide proof of registration. I'm going to be keeping the pickup (a Ranger) for at least a little while - it's convenient to have around.

I'm not sure about whether or not I'm going to tint the windows - I think I was going to see how hot the seats got on a warm day and do a bit of research. When I picked it up on Monday, it was 111 degrees (no heat index or other bull$hit, actual 111) in Kansas City. Although it was warm in the car, it wasn't unbearable. I park in a garage for work and a garage at home (as soon as I get it decluttered, so right now I'm thinking I could get away with not tinting. We'll see - I'm open to suggestions for sure.

And as far as the price - I definitely recommend calling around to the small town dealers. Corwin Hyundai in Jeff City didn't have this posted on its website or anything - otherwise I think they would have had other offers. And lastly, my Circle Price was also for Think Tank.

Thanks for posting the photos. That's an extremely sharp car. I'm still hoping to land one in the very near future.

Good to hear about your car Trotti. Just wondering what your last car was?
My 5.0 R-spec is still about 3 weeks away. Glad to hear about the firm suspension. Another reason to want to know what your last vehicle was, for comparison purposes over the ride.
