During an oil change yesterday, I noticed the coolant in my reserve tank had turned brown. It wasn’t oil contamination—it looked like a mix of pink and green coolant. Earlier this year, the dealer replaced my thermostat and turbo line under warranty, so I contacted them about this.
The lead tech told me it’s acceptable to mix pink into green, but not green into pink. While that explanation makes some sense, the brown color is concerning. They said if I wanted, I could pay for a drain and refill, which feels like poor service considering the mix likely happened during their repair.
My question to the community: Is it safe to drive with pink and green coolant mixed, or should I push for a full flush? I’d appreciate any insight from those familiar with Genesis cooling systems.
