  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I picked up my gorgeous Mallorca Blue G70 last month and couldn't be happier. It's the car you keep turning back after parking to admire. On closer inspection after delivery I noticed that the car was covered in swirl marks. This is probably the case on most car deliveries. I believe the Dealer detailers use Brillo to clean the cars. I immediately set up an appointment to have the paint corrected and a ceramic coating applied. I know that scratches and swirls are inevitable, but at least let them be through my doing, not the Dealer's.

If I were to buy an un-prepped car, I'd tell the dealer not to do anything and take it with all the plastic wraps all intact.

My Adriatic blue GV70 came off the truck hammered, I was lucky enough to see it before they prepped it. Was unsure if I was buying at that moment otherwise I would have requested them to leave it wrapped. The good news is my detailer was able to get it fixed up very nicely before coating it.

^ that's pretty much what i did. the car was delivered to my house with much of the wrap still on it from shipping, except for stuff they had to remove to reasonably drive the car. i hadn't bought a new vehicle before but knew that whatever the dealer prep entailed would not live up to my standard. so i told them not to bother. this is pretty much the same routine for any other dealer washes during servicing. i always stick a NO WASH tag in the car, on the key fob, and the work order.
