Burger Motorsports JB4 or RaceChip GTS - Which way to go??

I'm curious to hear from the people who own either system on their take on either of these tunes. What do you like, dislike, wish was different... including the phone applications and ease of use.

I know Burger Motorsports is on here, haven't seen RaceChip, but am open to either vendor "selling" me on the benefits of each as well.

My limited view so far, RaceChip seems to be more mainstream looking from their casing design and their application UI, but that may just be a pretty face. I really only just started to research any of these and still have a lot to find out. I'm looking for the best functionality, but usability is very important.

First off, thanks so much for the reply! I have some additional questions as most of this is very new to me, so apologies in advance for any stupid questions.

• Can you explain what “CANbus” and “fuel control” give me?
  • I understand that CANbus is Controller Area Network Bus, but is this a connection back into the main bus and what does it provide?
  • Is fuel control the throttle add-on to change throttle pedal response?
• Are these add-ons that are additional costs, or do they come with the system?
• Why is the Bluetooth add-on so much money? RaceChip only charges $50 for theirs, and their combined package is only $499 vs JB4 at $619. What is that extra $120 getting me (maybe it’s what I am asking about above)?

Regarding the JB4 app and bluetooth it's $170 for both. RaceChip isn't actually a tune it's just a simple boost box. Their app can't really do much as the tuner isn't reading in any engine data. See video of the JB4 Stinger app in action and the level of functionality provided by the JB4.

Thanks for sharing those. I will certainly dig through them. One thing I still don't understand or get from the quick glance, are the fuel wires now part of the JB4 that I would be ordering today? I see a lot of older conversations where they were an add-on purchase, so maybe that also explains why the cost is higher now than in the past?

If you really wanted the answer you could have contacted BMS directly and received a prompt response, but feel free to judge a vendor by the frequency of their (specific) forum visits and/or their unwillingness to hold your hand past a certain point. He politely explained where the answers could be found and why he won’t be answering any more here. But you’re probably one of those “customer is always right” people

The money is always right..... there by default so is the person with it. I find it increasingly more and more the case that many many businesses fail to understand this fundamental fact. Any contact with any one is a potential sale. There was a time when salesman would come to your door. Today I guess those guys would just tell you to go to the first house on the block they visited if you want more info.

I’d go somewhere else for that kind of “business ethic” too.

I added a JB4 to my G80 Sport 3.3T 2018. Had to also upgrade my spark plugs....totally different car. I’ve driven several thousand miles including the high country of CO. Gas mileage stayed the same but performance much improved.

The answer to this thread is simple. If all you want to do is add some pep (as opposed to every last possible bit of power) to your girls step either unit will do it and they will about equally well. If you want to to add a CAI and a exhaust and a....etc then the JB4 is the way to go as it is significantly more flexible and has much higher limits.
What it isn't is cheaper or easier to self install if you are not mechanically (electrically?) inclined.

Yeah I can kinda see both sides of this. On the one hand, the OP is basically asking, "Hey, what value are you offering me for you to charge what you charge vs your competitor?", and there are a lot of different ways that could be interpreted (and responded to). It kinda felt like a "Why is your stuff priced so high?" inquiry, though that might just be my interpretation. On the other hand, a more patient response from the vendor might have been, "Hi, here's the FAQ; if you have other questions not on the FAQ, feel free reach out to me directly!"

Sorry for replying on an old thread, but do you mean that if I have a CAI then jb4 is the way to go? I was leaning towards gts because it seemed simpler and is cheaper.
