Hey all,
I've had this happen twice now on my 09 3.8 Sedan.
After driving in heavy snow I will get a burning/melting rubber smell.
First time it was the day after driving for about an hour in a snowy/icy storm on the highway (last monday night in chicago for you chi-town folks). The next day I went out and started the car to warm it up, and after a few minutes there was a burning rubber smell. After driving a few miles it went away. I attributed it to ice hung up on something plastic/rubber pressing against motor or something. Thur I went in for oil change at dealer and they did a "99 point inspection" and found nothing.
Last night (Christmas night) a full on blizzard basically. Drove about hour and fifteem minutes in it and the smell returns when at a stop. Was about 5 min from home. Got home and popped the hood and the airbox is basically coated in snow. I am wondering if the airbox/airbox inlet getting packed with snow is throwing off the MAF sensor (or do we have MAP sensors not sure on this motor) and its causing some airflow problems.
Thoughts? Anyone have something similar?
Thanks,
Tom
