  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

$26,000 @ 50,000k (roughly 31,000 miles)
Is that Canadian or US currency?

Myself, good enough to buy two of them.

The suspension is firm, not bothersome to myself... other people do find it too stiff.
If you're concerned with snow, grab 4 winter tires and a extra set of wheels.
Resale... don't know. Will be keeping her long term.
Some folks had issues with the head unit... will be expensive replacement.

Bottom line... still smiling behind the wheel... and still turning heads.

I just let mine go and loved every moment spent with it.

I have just purchased a 2012 Equus and will be keeping this one for a long time.

Just loving every moment.

Snow is not a problem with the proper wheels and tires

CIAO:cool:

it is the price in canada

lets go guys i need more information
thanks

FWIW, I opted not to get the tech package, because so many Genesis problem reports have involved the tech package, and also because it didn't include anything I particularly wanted enough to pay extra for. If tech includes stuff you really want and you are prepared for the increased possibility of problems down the road, then go for it.

i always buy new cars.
if it's a choice between 09 genesis v 12 passat, i would get the passat.
better yet, a base 2012 genesis v6.

A couple of months ago, I bought a 2009 3.8 with the premium plus package. This is a great car! Look at it this way, most if not all of the kinks have been worked out and issues fixed. In two months I have had only one issue...I had to replace the wiper blades the day I bought it.

The toe-in problems had been fixed by the previous owner; also, he replaced the OEM tires with Goodyears last year...I don't remember which ones, but the OEMs are gone, lol!

Plus, you get the balance of the factory warranty - not the 100k one, but the 5 year 60k mile one...and the original owner ate the depreciation! So what's NOT to love?

Personally, I think 50,000km (31,000 miles) is a lot of mileage in two years. I would try to find out whether they were highway or city miles.

$26,000 canadian is pretty darn close to $26,000 US right now. Personally, I would buck up for the extra $10,000 and get a brand new 2012 3.8 premium with the 8-speed tansmission and the GDI engine.

I do love my Genesis and I don't see how a 2012 Passat can be considered comparable other than on price alone.

i have an 09 black on black. under 11k miles. I traded a Jaguar xj-8. i have a few mods that I have done to the car that make it pretty quick. i would rate this car very high and intend on keeping it a long while. Even the 30k miles isnt very much these days. if you like the car and the way it handles make the purchase. I prefer the stiffer suspension of the '09 personally. - feel free to PM me with any direct questions.

May not be 2 years... but 4 production years.

2009 models released in 2008,
2010 model year
2011 model year
2012 (R-spec) last quarter of 2011.

4 years @ 31k is less than 8,000/year... not bad at all.
Even at 3 calendar years (08-09, 09-10, and 10-11)... not high - under 11,000/year.

if you want good data on reliability instead of several people on this forum offering you their experience, you should check Consumer Reports, which rates the genesis reliability as good.

for assessing "fun to drive, comfort", you simply need to take a long drive in the car, preferably 30-60 min, on different kinds of roads, to decide for yourself.
