  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone,

So I stopped into the dealership to get a free oil change for my 2012 Genesis sedan and I decided to go take a look at the 2016 Genesis Sedan with both the tech and signature package.

I ended up test driving it and they offered to let me take it home for the night so see how I like it.

I went back this morning and after beating them down as much as I can, I got them to go from sticker price (47K) down to 41K with free oil changes, free tint, and the usual freebies you get when they try to sell you the car.

With a price tag of 41K, is this a deal I should be excited about? I love the car, but I just dont know if I wanna make the purchase.

The car was the 2016 with the two packages mentioned earlier with the 3.8L.

Any advice is great!

I am not sure how particular you are regarding the year but I am still seeing some left over 2015 with the signature and tech package going for 35 k in florida area. I would wait if I were you since the Genesis brand is gona be launched and probably will be 2017 g80

I am sure its the 2016 model I was looking at.

And what do you mean by this:

" I would wait if I were you since the Genesis brand is gona be launched and probably will be 2017 g80"

for 41k you should be able to get into the 5.0

He means that later this summer, when the Genesis Brand is released (the 2017 Genesis Sedan will be the 2017 Genesis G80) then the 2016's will be discounted even more.

Important to know as much as you can about the incentives. Negotiate up from dealer cost (3% below invoice, less incentives). There are some hidden incentives that dealers call "certs." Don't negotiate down from MSRP and don't negotiate monthly payment when purchasing.

Another option is to lease, as the current incentives and lease rates will get you 3 years in a new car at a very reasonable rate. If you love the car at the end, write a check for the pre-negotiated residual cost. If not, hand them the keys. You still need to negotiate the selling price aggressively and watch that they give you the best available rate and terms. Prices vary a lot by region.

I agree that the launch of the Genesis brand will present an opportunity for fans of the 2016. I personally would never drive a V8 due to the gas mileage penalty, of course YMMV! :)

P.S. Mine is still in the shop, 20 days and counting. They are planning to replace the fuel pump today. Glad I leased!!
