  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Buying and servicing from same dealer?

After a lot of research here and elsewhere, I'm starting to look for a good deal on a 2011 Genesis. Some of the dealers I've contacted are as much as a couple of hours away, so while I might buy from them, I probably wouldn't go there for service.

I'd have no problem going to whatever service department is most convenient, even if I didn't purchase the car there. But some people here have said that they've gotten concessions (free loaners, oil changes, etc.) that only make sense if you end up going to the same place for service. Some of these probably have a value that offsets discounts elsewhere, though it's hard to gauge.

What's been your experience? Thanks.

I bought an Azera from a designated dealer through my company's buying service several years ago. There are three Hyundai dealers closer to my home than the selling dealer, so I had the car serviced at a more convenient location. When I bought my Genesis I purchased from the dealer where I had my Azera serviced. My experience at both dealers was positive. In my case, since I used the buying service, there were no extra goodies offered as part of the deal - but the dealer made no effort whatever to sell me a bunch of junk I didn't want (extended warrantly, paint protection, undercoating, etc.) OTOH, when I bought the Genesis the dealer was pretty aggressive in pushing the extras, but I had no problem saying no. Since I had been using their service department for 5 years, I knew the service experience would be good.
