I would like this thread to include people's opinions, buying experiences, and price for which they bought their 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-spec, Grand Touring, or Track.
I'm in the process of buying a 2013 3.8L R-spec. Here are the price numbers in my area. Northern California, bay area.
Invoice Price: $27,988
TMV: $29,037
MSRP: $29,765
This data was pulled from edmunds.com. I'm hoping to negoiate with the salesperson down to $25k. This may be wild shot but considering I have a pre-approved loan for 1.79% APR for 60 months, I'm hoping to get what I want. I'm also seriously thinking about trading in my 2004 Maxda RX-8 M/T base model. Hoping to get $4k for it in the trade-in. Since trade-ins are where the bulk of the profit of a dealership comes from, I'm hoping this will contribute to the approval of the $25k offer. I'm also putting about $5k down. I know most dealerships won't sell a car under invoice price but with everything I have explained I think I might be able to, any opinions?
Also I took much consideration in all three trims as to which one I really wanted. I did a comparison between the r-spec and track and I have compiled a list of additional options that the track offers vice the r-spec.
Sunroof
Signaling Exterior
Heated exterior mirror
Spoiler (Deck Lid)
Automatic climate control -> A/C
Compass
Interior automatic day/night or electrochromic mirror
Universal garage door opener
Delayed courtesy light
cruise control
subwoofer
diversity radio antenna
Navigation system
front seated seat
driver multi-adjustable power seat
front adjustable seat height
front power lumbar support
Track trim comes only in Black interior. R-spec trim comes in Red/Black interior
This info was pulled from the hyundai website with much research. It was really hard to find. I decided to go with the R-spec because you save $5000 compared to the track, no spoiler (deck lid IMO is horrible looking, I will install a different spoiler at my expense), and most of the features are useless to me personally and can live without. All of the engine specs are the same.
I sent in a price quote request via interenet/email to my local hyundai dealership. The internet managers who replied are much better than salespeople because they usually give you a better price than a salesperson because they want to make a commission off the sale. The internet managers want to sell you the car at a lower cost because their quota/commission is based on the volume of cars they sell. I have not received a price quote yet as I haven't test driven the car yet and was 10% in doubt that I wanted to buy the car. I set up an appointment for Friday of this week so I'll let you know then how my experience went.
Feel free to comment and ask questions.
