If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if it is possible to bypass the lockout to watch a DVD while in drive? I'm not asking this with the intent to watch a DVD and drive at same time, well with the exception of a few glances same as you do with say a map or audio playing. This is more for the wife and or passengers to be able to watch say during an extended cruise, trip, etc. If there is a thread on this subject please post the link. I tried finding something related to this in the search but came up with nothing.

Thanks In Advance

There have been a lot of discussions on this topic, and so far no one that I know of has been able to override that function. Best solution was, and I agree, is get a portable DVD player, plug the earphone jack from the DVD player to the AUX input in console to hear the movie thru the Lexicon system. The DVD player can then be placed in a stratigic area for viewing. One person worded it perfectly, since it's illegal to have a device like this playing within the drivers view..... he said, (picture yourself in front of the judge) "Gee, your honor, I really don't know why my skid marks start 20 feet after I hit the pedestrian.... it surely couldn't be because I had the most recent blockbuster movie playing on my console. That couldn't have had anything to do with it". FYI... I have had several 'close ones' when I "JUST GLANCED" over to the nav screen. wheeeew!!! Drive safely!

Now that's funny stuff "michaeldallen" I don't care who you are ! :D Thx for the reply good info. Very good idea to use a portable player and tie into the aux audio. I'll check out the thread Gambler thx.

I did on mine but it kills some function when its on it.
on number 11 or 12pin back of you're dvd player its red wire. You need to put a switch.
When ur on parking with ur engine running turn on the switch.
now ur volume button on the handle should not work.
put it in to drive u should still have dvd running on the screen.
dvd player thinks ur still on parking. Bad part is ur volume on handle dose not work and also ur use Music u can't. Change tracks. Soon as u turn it off it come back to normal.
there is 2 red wire its one nwar middle. Good luck

navtv.com has a module to $300. I'm gonna pick one up next week and I'll let everyone know how well it works. I also saw a video on youtube showing it in action.

Is it really that important to watch a movie while you drive? I must be missing somehing here. All this energy spent on rigging the system to bypass it.

Its nice for the passenger on a trip, I guess. Its illegal in the US, but many countries allow it and the vehicles do not require a bypass.

I know this is very old but I'm the kind of person that likes to listen to movies while driving and my son likes to watch movies while he's in the car. The rear passengers could also watch it while driving You really should be able to bypass it and the screen should just be able to tell you hey don't look at The screen and if you do you do it at your own risk..

I was very upset to find out even the aux video port will disable the video output in D I had a Roku hooked up and it was awesome but BAM as soon as I went into drive BAM :( My purpose was to use the roku as an updated entertainment option for spotify and other music apps as someone else said I am also into letting my son watch a movie while I listen to the movie. We watch the same movies over and over again so just hearing it is enough for me.
