  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been reading about the issues with drone from cat back and no CAI support. I reached out to some friends who assisted with my race car. I have a buddy of mine who has the bending numbers for cat back for the sedan; he is willing to do a CAI and cat back for our cars. He own a shop in Kent, Washington. He needs a car for mock up. Does anybody live in that area? If there is a interest in headers this is something he can also handle. Still working with folks about tuning.

Stan's?

No one has tried to produce headers, long tube or shorties. Long tubes definitely cannot be sold in CA. Shorties, maybe, but there is an approval process that can be expensive.
Ideally, long tube headers for the V8 would make nice power with little noise increase (no drone). You probably could use the secondary cats as the primary cats.
I don't think shorty headers produce enough power to justify all the approval effort.
Whatever, the market for headers is quite thin. Wonder if you'd even sell ten sets?
As for cat back, Magnaflow has the market well covered, but even with their latest version there is still some drone. I think there is some potential for competition with Magnaflow by developing just a replacement for the rear muffler, complete with pipes, etc, - using the Dynomax VT mufflers. This will net a nice power increase, no drone and should bring a good profit at around $600 retail, half of Magnaflow's retail.
