  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The A/C on this car is not great. My theory is that the 4.6 revs very low and does not drive the compressor enough.

Even with recirculation on, refrigerant checked, cold setting on back seat, etc., it just does not blow cold enough unless you are revving over 2000 rpms consistently.

Is there a fix out there? Maybe a larger gear for the compressor or something?

Other than having a competent technician make sure it's working correclty, no. HVAC cooling is weak on our cars (inadequate total heat pump capacity for hot climates).

"Fixes":
  • Tinted windows.
  • Sun shade.
  • Park in the shade.
  • Sell the car and buy another that's not a 1st gen Genesis sedan.

No problems here with my ‘12 Genesis 3.8.

If you have had a proper AC service/checkup, my recommendation would be tinted windows. See my brand in my signature below.

Its not the compressor. Its the refrigerant they put in it. They switched to a more eco friendly type. Try to find a shop that has the old stuff.

Ours will barely cool when waiting at a stop light, especially when it's really hot outside. Once you get moving, it cools fine. It's been that way since the start, if I remember right.

2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 and my air wasn't working properly, I had my mechanic recharge the A/C and its cold as ice now
