  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Battery light came out and output U0001 code, which is a High Speed CAN Communication Bus error. Has anyone else experience this issue? I'm curious how to fix it. Is it due to corrosion? Most importantly, newbie quesiton here, where is the CAN bus terminal located so I can take a look myself?

corneliusw, CAN (Controller Area Network) bus is a data path between controllers. There is usually no terminal locations for the bus. The path goes between 2 or more controllers. A communication error can be caused by any controller or any wire in the network.
An example of a CAN bus usage would be like this. You push the window down button. It tells the door controller you want to put your window down. The door controller uses the CAN bus to tell the body control module (BCM) you want to put your window down. The BCM checks for any reason you should not put your window down. If all is OK then the BCM sends a message back using the same CAN bus to the door controller that it is OK to put the window down. There is a lot of error checking going on with all these messages. If an error is detected you will get the U0001 code.
I would have to have a complete wiring diagram of your car to even make a guess of how many controllers there are. Some are low speed, and others are high speed. Examples of controllers are HVAC systems, Instruments, Audio, Safety systems (LKA, SCC,etc), Seats, windows, brakes, and the list goes on and on.
I can only suggest you consult with your dealer.

Ok thanks for the reply. I will take it to the dealer next week when my schedule is more available since it seems like it could be complicated. Was trying to see if it was something I could learn and fix myself, as I don't like going to shops..even Hyundai's. From everything you said I would think the controller is related to the seats controller + HVAC then because coincidentally I have that check engine light and both my power seats have stopped working + A/C only blows warm air out. There's been about two instances when cold air has blown out since this happen, all other times it's warm air.

It is very possible they are all related. The problem is that some other controller may be causing problems on the CAN bus but still doing it's job.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

I was going to say something smart like the CAN bus terminal is in Quebec, but I won't.

Did anything ever come of this? I'm experiencing U0001 and I consulted a Hyundai dealer as was reccomended by pmmckechnie. All they did was charge me $80 to plug in an OBD reader (which I already did) and they told me my car is fine but I might need a new battery. I replaced my battery and the issues haven't gone away. I have a feeling it might be a bad ECU... I'm hesitant to go back to Hyundai because I'm not paying another $80 for nothing.
