  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For the first couple of months in my Advanced model, I was getting an estimated range of around 260 miles, consistently getting over 3 miles/kWh. I then went on a road trip with a good amount of highway driving (roughly 400 miles). Ever since then, my estimated range is lower and my efficiency is always under 3 miles/kWh. I am trying to find out if there is something going on with the vehicle or if the highway miles threw off the estimations (my guess it is the latter). I was wondering if there is a way to reset the estimated range so it can essentially start over to get it back to what it was before this road trip? Also, will this be an issue after everytime I drive it quite a bit on the highway?

Is it possible something else changed, such as the ambient temperature?

It definitely has gotten colder here (in Connecticut), but I feel this started right after this road trip when the outside temps were still pretty reasonable.

There's a section in settings somewhere I remember seeing about reseting range after recharge. The thing with range estimations, is in the beginning it starts on a default. Then after some time it learns your driving habits. The other thing to consider, is when you first get car, you are likely to be more anxious and drive a little more conservatively while getting confidence on the range. After a while you drive a little more normal....this will of course affect consumption. The area which you are driving affects it to. Consider how much elevation you are travelling....whether you have the heater on....etc. this all attributes. As soon as you hit mostly motorways. I.e. anything over 60mph or 100kph, the efficiency drops pretty quick. The biggest impact is acceleration particularly on an incline. I.e. the more consistent your speed....the better the efficiency. Driving into headwinds or with the wind affects a decent amount too....

Yes, I'm sure the heater, heated seats and steering wheel, etc are all reducing the range these days (although was using AC some back then too, so somewhat offsetting?). It just seems that the highway trip was a bit of a demarkation point when the range was noticeably reduced just afterward. I guess as I do more local driving that it eventually would re-adjust upwards a bit, perhaps more in the spring when not using the heating functions as much.

If it works like the ones in ICE cars it will change with your driving habits and history. Mine can vary by over 100 miles depending on the last couple of trips city vs highway driving. It assumes what you did recently is going to continue

Estimated range does not affect your actual range. It is merely a guess as to how much further you can go.

I was planning on buying a Lucid Air Pure instead but grabbed this when it appeared. On the Lucid forum folks are complaining about how inaccurate the range estimate is and wish that SOC would replace it. We have both.

Yikes! The Lucid doesn't show SOC? Seems a clear and unnecessary shortcoming, if that's the case. Range estimates on ICE vehicles are somewhat recent (last decade or so), but a fuel gauge has always been the norm. Why should an EV be any different?

It will probably be fixed in a software upgrade. According to what I have read on the forum, you have to choose between distance to "0" and SOC.
