I didnt see a planter curb and ran over it last night. I stopped and hit it dead center bottom of my front lower frame bar. Crunching the bottom fairly good. And pushing bar into the oil filter casing. Cracking the housing around one of the bolt holes. All the way through so my oil leaked out on the way home. Oil was everywhere. I pulled out plug filter and took off housing. Then left to find new housing. When I was gone my well intenioned part time mechanic buddy came by. He tool metal type bolt hole cylinder out of broken hole in housing. He put this world hardest epoxy in hole. Then replaced metal cylinder. And put epoxy on few small outside cracks. Then he put housing back on. He then put old filter with old oring back into housing. And put the drain plug back without a new washer. My question first is was there suppose to be a gasket with that housing. i did not see one when i pulled housing off. But i didnt look at spot where it came off. Maybe it stuck to block. Maybe dont have one. But I want to start vehicle. I dont want oil everywhere. Now i am going to drain oil. Replace filter and o ring and new washer on pan bolt. My questiin here is the same. Do you think that the old oring and pa. Washer. If any will be sufficient to even start vehicle with out leaking every where. Because if the fikter i ring and plug hole will be ok. Then I can check on the housing gasket thing. If not then i have to change those and oil to even try. And then of coarse dors any body know about gasket for housing. I have seen them for sale. But in the ads for the housing i dont see one displayed. Do they show if they come with them. Or is bolting to block without ok. And then is their any chance at all that epoxy will hold under that pressure and heat. Itd that jb weld epoxy 49000 psi or something. Please let me know if i can start
