  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just picked up my 2015 5.0 Ultimate last night. I see a spot on the inside of the trunk for what looks like it should be a safety reflector. Any of my fellow Canucks happen to have anything in that location?

It is for a reflector.

it does not come with the reflector.

I think you are asking about the place where you can attach your reflector triangle for breakdown occasions. it must be shrinked.

It's also great for storing your touque, a litre of maple syrup, or a bag of ketchup chips.

Congrats on your new acquisition. :welcome:

I’ve had my 2015 Genny for almost 2 years now and I have absolutely no clue what that thing is, nor did I bother trying to find out. However, guess where I now store my snow broom all year round!!:D

Also great for storing an umbrella

Great idea; Mine is always in the way.

A little off topic here, but does your new trunk have that certain foul and pungent smell like…..… the aftermath of a forest fire (definitely not the smell of fine Corinthian leather, believe me). I guess the adhesives – it took about 6 to 9 months for that smell to finally completely go away. Personally, I found this somewhat annoying and I think Hyundai should fix that.

Yep, my car trunk had a pretty strong chemical smell for a long time. At about 13 months now since I got my car, it has finally died down.

Considering the trunk mat, carpet, battery, spare and foam tool holder you can expect some smell but yeah would be nice if it did not last so long.

When sold in Europe the Warning Triangle is mandatory, and so the mounting clip is installed on all GenII Genesis.

Thanks guys! Umbrella it is!

I haven't really stuck my head in the trunk yet (I will this week as I begin to design my stereo system). I know there is a faint smell. But nothing that really caught my attention.

I think the smell is the rubber on the reversible cargo mat.

And I discovered the little bracket thing one day and thought it was to hold the cheap snow brush included with the car. But the umbrella idea is novel...

Probably not that great, see below.

Unlikely, see below.

Faint??? Definitely did not have to stick my head in the trunk - the odor was strong and vile (it finally died down after approximately 9 long months).:p

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news folks but the novel idea is unlikely to work unless your umbrella is wafer thin. The only reason I'm able to fit my snow broom in there is that it is a cheap one with a flat wooden handle (it was not provided with the car).
