  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

need to replace a front fender side vent that cracked dealer cant even tell me when they could find a replacement part any ideas

Tell the dealer to take one off a new car on the lot and then figure it out. lol

I used to work at a place that purchased about 600 new Ford trucks every year and the dealerships we purchased from constantly pulled parts off new trucks so we didn't have to wait for parts.

Tell them they are idiots. Then tell them to search for the "fender garnish" in their parts catalogue.

20013

After they finally order the part, tell them to go to hell.

(/Sarcasm, but seriously, so many dealers are such jackasses).

They need to look again, they are available at almost all the warehouses. Shouldn't take but a few days to get.

LH part # 87771-G9000
LH w/dark chrome part # 87771-G9010
RH part # 87772-G9000

Is there a price on those parts? I kinda want to swap for dark chrome pieces but Im curious how much the bommerang costs

Dark chrome boomerang might look weird in contrast with the "regular" chrome everything else on your car

List on them is $83.56/ea. Fourgreen is selling them for less than dealer cost.
oooooooo...... do you think you can pull dealer cost for some other accessories? That would be greatly appreciated.

To the op:
I have discovered that at some dealers, they are just lazy and do not want to put in the time.

The cost of swapping out all the regular chrome to the dark chrome would probably cost more than just getting the Sport.
well, 5k difference between my model and sport along with a bunch of extra stuff i dont want/can break (the rims alone, think about that). I dont think Ill be anywhere near 5k switching out 2 boomerangs, the grill, and having my tailights darkened. Of course I dont have exact prices on everything yet and Im not 100% sure on labor, but if I spend ~1.5k Ill be happy

Actually yeah...sorry. I was thinking going from the model below Sport to the Sport...which would be just over $1k. But from lower trims to Sport is way more.

So I guess it depends on which model you get :)

I would love to have the dark chrome in my car but I can't stand the Sport 5 spoke dark rims so I went with the Prestige. I don't have plans to change them but I think it will be a lot cheaper to buy the dark grille and boomerangs than the whole set of 10 spoke rims if I had bought the Sport trim.

I'd imagine you'd be able to recoup a good amount of the cost by selling the 5 spokes or by trading them for the 10 spokes

That's a possibility but my car is a lease. Plus it would take time and space for the rims and I don't have any of them. Sometimes you need to loose something in order to get another. C'est la vie mon ami. ;)

PD705 made a good point in another thread. the machined aluminum 10-spoke rims go better with the bright chrome trim. they look weird with the dark chrome. the dark Sport wheels go much better with the dark chrome trim. matchy matchy.

don't forget, there's also the window trim and door handles which get the dark chrome treatment. if anyone swapped the boomerang/grille, they'd also have to do the windows and door handles. no bueno from a cost perspective.

Wow I didn’t even think of the door handles and trim...shit

Front grill and lower bumper, fender garnish, and handles don't seem to bad to replace... But, the window trim seems a bit tougher, unless it just pops off like the garnish does...

Either way I agree, definitely not cheap nor particularly simple. Personally I'd rather just plasti-dip them, add some metallic to it, then a gloss coat on top, you could get it looking pretty good. And if you decided you didn't like it later on, just peel it right off.
