  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Folks,

I am a proud new owner of a v8 genesis w/ tech package. Everything on the car is perfect except I can't get my phone to work with the bluetooth.

Here's the situation:

The install of the phone went perfect, I can access my dialed calls all that, and when I go to make a call it mutes the radio, but I can't here the phone!

I have turned up the phone volume so that isn't the problem. It isn't on mute or privacy mode. Everything should work just fine, except its not.

Any help you guys could provide would be much appreciated. I am reluctant to bring it back to the dealership for such a small problem.

Cheers Everyone! Glad to be a part of such a thriving forum!

Joe

I should mention that I also tested my wifes phone and had the exact same situation. So I don't think it is a compatibility issue.

Joe.

Hey Joe and Welcome-
1. I'll assume that you have used your phone with other Bluetooth devices (headsets, etc.) before pairing to the car and they worked ok?
2. Did you try listening to the phone earpiece while making the call from the car's system to see if the audio was still accidentally routed through the cell earpiece?

Hi,

I have used the phone with other bluetooth headsets and such. My wife's phone as well. The audio isn't coming through the phone earpiece either. If I select the Privacy mode it will though.

Joe.

Yes, check and make sure ON THE NAV SCREEN that PRIVATE CALL is NOT selected. We learned that the hard way as well. If private call is selected you can only hear it through the cell phone.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Are we speaking of the option availible while you are making a phone call? There isn't a seperate option in the Navigation menu is there?

ps, my phone is a HTC S720, is there a list somewhere of all the compatible cell phones for the Genesis?

Hey! I just wanted to say... Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up.. Another V8 Genesis Owner on board! :)

Thanks for the welcome, it's great that there is a forum like this. I heard they only expect to sell 300 of these in Canada this year, so I wasn't expecting much of a "community"

Please be aware that the DIS system has a separate volume control for the phone, too. I inadvertently turned my volume down to 'zero' a month ago, and until I figured out what happened, the person on the other end could hear me talking, but I couldn't hear anything and assumed I had no connection. You can check this out by making a call and then press the 'up' volume control on the steering wheel once the call is connected. A volume indicator will pop up on the bottom of the screen.
