  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 AWD sedan. My front skid plate came somewhat loose at the front passenger corner several days after my last oil change. That is when I decided I would preform all future oil changes on my own.

My primary question is regarding the cap screws and plastic bumper push fasteners (?) required to hold the skid plate in place. I have seen some posts on these items, but the information seems conflicting or perhaps not for the G2 version of the Genesis sedan.

Could anyone supply part numbers and / or links to where I can get these items. I also understand that perhaps stainless steel or something similar would be advisable for the cap screws to prevent rust and permanent seating.

Lastly, if anyone has any "gotchas" they have learned doing the oil change, I would be interested in hearing them.

Thanks in advance for any help you could provide me.

Unless something very special about the cap screws, just go up to your local Ace Hardware and get the screws you need. My local Ace has all sorts of specialty fasteners, standard and metric including some push type automotive fasteners. Harbor Freight and Amazon both carry some universal plastic push style fastener kits that have lots of different styles for not much money. Comes in handy for future uses too for those damn plastic clip and push fasteners break easily.

Thanks Pulsar. I think that could work for the plastic push fasteners. But i believe the metal cap screws have specific dimensions ( thread type, depth, and width).

Harbor Freight definitely. You can buy a case of them, varying sizes, for $10. Mine even came with a metal puller.
