  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I woke to find some @ss-H@t had hit my car. the first estimates are starting at 8k+. the driver ran into my rear drivers wheel and bent the suspension - even the shock - prob full replacement on the rear suspension if the sub frame isn't bent. Shocks, rims, tires, sway bar and maybe rotors.....

looks like it time for some aftermarket goodies, any suggestions?

I am looking for rim style suggestions - I want to move them out so 18-25 offset? BTW I'm lowered 1.5"

anyone know of performance suspension components?

THX

Sad day. :(

Sorry to hear that Brady. Did you at least get his numbers so you can charge his insurance?

I've only see a few good looking rims, but unfortunatly, they don't fit the Genney. :(

Here's a company I found with a few nice looking ones.

They also make these. Unfortunatly they don't make them for the Genney.

Man, that totally sucks @ss! Sorry to hear about it, but hopefully you can come out ahead with some nice mods.

Man I would be livid. Glad to hear some good can come out of it though; hopefully the frame isn't bent :-(.

...hopefully the frame isn't bent

I dont believe the car has a frame per se; it's a unibody construction. Regardless, hopefully whatever the damage may be can be pulled straight and the car made solid again.

Makes me grateful for my garage I'll tell you.

@bradyb: I couldn't tell from your post if the person who hit your car left a note. In any case, sorry about your car, and I hope you get it taken care of to your satisfaction.

Well Howdy folks! The update is the car is STILL in the shop and the tab has gone to 8,500 and rising. The dvd changer (head unit) is toast and the rear windows dont sound right either.

enjoy the carnage

Seriously, whoever hit your car I hope Karma gets them good and they realize what a piece of S**t they are...

Damn man that sucks. Same thing happened to me last Saturday but not as bad. No note or witnesses for me either. Looks like mine will mostly buff out though. Would like to see some after pics when complete.

If that's skid marks from where he hit you and pushed you sideways, that was a hard hit.

Hope everything gets fixed right. Also hope someone comes thru with the culprit.

I remember when I bought my G8. Only had it 2 months before someone lightly dented my front fender. Got that fixed for $500. A month later I come out to go to work only to find someone side-swiped me. Caused $3000 worth of damage. Needless to say, I feel you pain.

Hey fellow G8 owner. ;)

Same thing happened to my G8. Second day I owned it, some one hit it in the parking lot, probably with a cart. A week later, some girl backs into the Wife and tries to blame her. Luckly it was around the same spot as the first hit, so everything got fixed at once.

Ouch, that's a mean hit!

That would be former G8 owner. That car had a lot of mechanical issues. Fun as hell, but I couldn't live with it anymore.

Same here. I had the V6 and it had issues, timing chain, which has been an issue since they put that engine in the caddy, but GM doesn't want to address it. The dealer screwed up installing the chain and then tried to tell me the crank was bad. I told them it wasn't but since the car was under warrenty, they had to fix it.

When I finaly got the car back, it vibrated like crasy just sitting still with the engine running. They tried to say nothing was wrong as it was not throwing a code. I told them they had put in an unbalanced crank. They kept saying that it would throw a code. I asked what code is there for a unbalanced crank, they said it depenends on whats wrong. We went round and round on this with them not wanting to admit they screwed up.

I got a number to corporiate GM and addressed the issue with them. Got a little help at first and then back to the same merry go round. So I got a Lemon Lawyer and got my money back. That's when I got the R Spec. I'm glad I did.

I'll never buy another new GM product as long as I live since they don't seem to care about their customers. And my last 3 out of 4 new vechicles were GM. Never again.

I actually had a GT. Like I said, it was fast, but there were some strange things going on with the mechanicals. When cruising, there was a terrible vibration. Maintaining speed anywhere from 25mph through about 75mph was very nerve racking. It was audible as well. Driving without the radio cranked up was not an option. It only got worse the more miles that were put on it. I brought it to the dealership to see if they could diagnose the cause. They were aware of the situation but didn't have a fix. According to one of managers, they had a G8 in and swapped a bunch of parts including the driveshaft and transmission to no avail. I have no idea if any of that is true, but I do recall a TSB being announced sometime after I got rid of it.
