Sure the connection is good? I bought a 90 degree USB cord and noticed after sitting for a bit on the drive the plug end of the cord would marginally flex and I would loose all connection for Android Auto even though the cord was plugged in. Also. The cord is a cheap piece of crap I am finding out.
Yeah I would think that would mean it's good. I'll check tomorrow if mine looses connection and still shows charging.
A better although still not conclusive test would be to try to stream music (not CarPlay) from your phone through the cable to the car.Yeah I would think that would mean it's good. I'll check tomorrow if mine looses connection and still shows charging.
It would really help if you could provide more info. What do you mean by it doesn’t work? Is there a CarPlay icon on your screen? Does your phone say CarPlay on it while plugged in? Anything else you could give us to help troubleshoot?
USB cables have 4pinsTried a different cord for the heck of it and it worked. Problem solved.
That cord must be okay enough to charge but not to fully connect.
Thanks for the help!
USB cables have 4pins
1 +5 VDC
2. Data -
3 Data +
4 Ground
So you can see it is possible for you to charge while not having a data connection.
I've had the same thing happen with third party iphone lightning cables.... they just seem to stop working randomly. The original apple ones are more consistent until the portion where the cable meets the connector begins to fall apart. Just keep plenty of lightning cables handy.
