  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have the 3.8 automatic and it seems to slow down when going down hills if your foot is off the accelerator, is this how it is intended to work? The same type of thing happens anytime I let my foot off the accelerator, it doesn't feel like it is just coasting, but actively slowing the vehicle down.

Thanks!

Most likely the automatic has downshifted a gear- common vs. going nuetral.

Have either of you driven a coupe? If so, is this the normal operation of the coupe, or should I have it looked at? It seems like if I'm at 45 for example at the top of a hill and let it coast, it drops to ~40 by the bottom of the hill, whereas in my previous car it would get up to ~50 by the bottom.

I have not driven a coupe.

I believe it is downshifting. Hubby's car is 2 days old and has done this from the start. I assume it is the way it is supposed to be.
