  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I have a 2013 Hyundai genesis 5.0 r-spec. So my car was sitting for a couple weeks before I tried starting it and I tried starting it with a jump starter that didn’t have enough cold cranking amps so it just did it’s normal thing we’re it ticks under the hood multiple times. So it tried to jump it off with another vehicle and it did the same thing. The battery was completely dead. So I bout a brand new battery with the exact same specs and I installed it correctly and tried to start it and I only got 1 tick under the hood. I don’t know if I blue a certain fuse? Or do I need to tap on the starter if that’s even possible with this model. It seems like I could have blown a fuse or maybe something else. Please help me out.

The first steps are to verify that the new battery is actually good and is fully charged. Next is to be sure that the battery clamps are actually tight on the battery posts. Try twisting the cables. If they move, they are not tight. After that, it is a matter of using a multi-meter to find the break or weak point in the circuit.

Okay thanks. So I know I have the right voltage and amps I traced the circuit to some relays and I pulled them and put them back in and tried to start it and it crank right up! Thanks
