  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did your dealer say? Your comment is a bit vague.

I had the same issue with black smoke on full throttle and high rpm. I found that my driving habit was to baby the car and just let the auto tranny shift when it wanted to. When I needed the power and floored it, the smoke rolled out of the exhaust... how embarrassing.
I have to say that now I don't baby the car as much and I let it wind up tighter in normal driving conditions and from time to time give it some "juice" and that seems to keep the carbon from building up in the exhaust, so on wide open throttle it doesn't billow smoke.

Mine doesn't smoke, but it always has carbon buildup around the exhausts I have to use cleaner to remove every wash. Just figured it was the smog crap they put on them

Mine also and i wanna get rid of carbon
Is there any solution...?

Nope, GD I as said previously.

i have babied mine for the 800 mi that i have had it.
my buddy was following me in his sti the other day, so i had to floor it.

He said the exhaust looked like 2 semis were belching out from the bumper.

I dont care about the stuff in the air, just the stuff on the car.
I keep a rag in the trunk and just wipe it off once a week. It's not the most convenient, but keeps her looking nice.

I wonder if you let it build up if it becomes harder to remove. I'm trying to prevent that from happening.

He was as impressed with the amount of smoke as he was by how fast a big car like mine moved.

I have a 2013 V6 and spoke with the Genesis hotline from Hyundai (800-633-5151 - select Genesis option 5). The rep said they are aware of the problem of exhaust buildup on the bumper and engineers are working on it. I also got the impression that if more people called with a complaint - a solution would be quicker.

Pass the word.

The "solution" will likely be the debut of the 2015 Genesis.

Glad I read this post. I noticed the carbon at the bottom of my exhaust tips just yesterday. (recently purchased 2010 4.6)

At least now I know it's not "just my car".
