  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What do think of this . If the President told the big three car makers if you close your plants in the States you will not be a allow to import the cars you make abroad into the United States

Either way that would be the end of the big 3. They will bankrupt if they don't close the plants. If they close the plants and cannot import cars from abroad they will die for sure. However, people still need to buy cars. In that case I will buy shares in Toyota and Honda.

I really dont want to see the big three fail, that would be the devastating blow for this economy

They almost have to rescue them just like they're rescuing everyone else. The auto industry represents about 10% of the the workforce in this country either directly or indirectly. Their union contracts and their non-innovative stupidity is killing them and has been for the past 25 years. Now I see Chrysler wants to come out with all electric cars (EV) with one of the first of them being a Jeep Wrangler. I'm a Jeeper and I don't remember speaking to ANYONE that wanted an electric version of a Wrangler.

They also need to cut their lines back dramatically. GM flying Chevy, GMC, Pontiac, Buick, Hummer, Cadillac etc. is just plain stupid. Toyota has Lexus and now Scion but the others have 1 other major label they own. Mercedes and BMW, none..

did you know that Ford just build the most morden car plant in the world in BRIZEL yes my spelling suck

What will happen:

Yes, a "bridge bailout" but:

1. GM into pre-packaged Chapter 11, with ongoing financing arranged. GM avoids Chapter 7 (liquidation), comes out leaner.

2. Chrysler offered the same deal, may take it, but WILL go to Chapter 7. Bye-bye.

3. Ford may/may not need Chapter 11 to get thinner, will survive in one way or another.

Smaller workforce coming, 1000's of dealers gone.

My humble opinion.
