  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all. I have a 2013 R spec sedan. Recently when playing a CD the system says that it has a disk in and it doesn't. It will accept discs and eject them but will not play any of them. It acts as though there is a disc in at all times. I should also mention that I have the 17 speaker lexicon system. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did they fix it? Thanks

I can't say I have heard of the problem you are having on a Genesis. It does happen with automotive disc drives though. Do you have kids that could have put something in the disc slot? My brother says that this is a very common issue at his dealership. (kids and random objects in the player) It could be a dirty laser lens or a lose internal connection.

Not a chance of a kid issue. My boy is 19 and lives on his own in another state. I am considering removing the unit and cleaning the eye with a cotton swab and alcohol. I've had some success with that in the past. If that doesn't work I guess I'll be in search of a repair shop as aftermarket doesn't seem to be an option on these cars without a lot of custom work

Just curious. Is there a real need for the CD player? These days, most folks rip their CDs, and library CDs, onto thumbdrives for use in the car. Most of us have hundreds of CDs on our thumbdrives.

This could be an expensive fix. This is why I paid extra so that all three year, and five year things will be covered for 10 years. (By then I'll only have 50,000-60,000 miles on the car)

That is what I'm doing now is a flash drive and Bluetooth for music. I don't use the cd player often. I just would still like for it to be operational

Hi...have you tried a can of cleaner spray air used in blowing out dust from LP keys boards and gas fireplace logs. The can comes with this straw that you place in the sprayer head and insert it gently into the player, spray and pray for the best.

I drive 2009 genesis never had any issue with cd player, until 3 days ago I decided to connect the Bluetooth from my phone to play music, the Bluetooth didn't work and now can't even play any cd,everything is not working, although the cd player is reading the cd I put in but it won't play and no sound. Am so disappointed in genesis since I never had any issues with my 2006 azera !! Hope there is a simple way out am not ready to blow any cash!!

I'm having the same issue. Were you able to find a fix for this?

I'm having a similar issue and don't know what to do. 2013 3.8 7 speaker base system here. About a week ago my CD player (not often used) started acting like there was a CD already in the system. When you try to insert a disc it pushes it out and displays an error. This in itself is not a huge issue, but when you try to change modes into Aux/MP3 mode the CD error keeps it from going to streaming mode (same button). Add to this the flakiness of the bluetooth radio where I have to delete and re-pair my phone about every other trip (pairing failed) and I'd like to change out the whole system - top and bottom unit, but there don't seem to be any aftermarket options for this. Taking advice.
