  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Curious to know what you think of ceramic auto paint coatings, and if you did it to your Genesis. If so, how has it performed. What product would you recommend, if any? The dealer is pushing it, but I can get it done by an independent detailer at less than half the cost. Just finding what the product they’re using is a challenge. Thoughts???

Originally ceramic coatings really required professional application. Now they have products that are much easier to apply but still require considerable prep work (washing, iron removal, tar and bug removal, clay barring, pain correction, etc.) before application. If done incorrectly, it will have streaking.

Products like this one have gotten solid reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Nano-Bond-Ceramic-Coating-Protection/dp/B07MHB8KHQ/ref=sxin_10_b2b_sx_ftd_qd_hc_desktop?crid=1MKZD597LJB1T&cv_ct_cx=ceramic+coating+for+cars&dchild=1&keywords=ceramic+coating+for+cars&pd_rd_i=B07MHB8KHQ&pd_rd_r=22563241-ec43-4653-a350-1806cb6720f8&pd_rd_w=x27Ye&pd_rd_wg=DziXR&pf_rd_p=6fe252e2-6ef7-4bde-b498-b977f1fe0643&pf_rd_r=CEX7FAXYGF78Z216FJRH&qid=1610658425&sprefix=ceramic+coating,aps,156&sr=1-2-42cf1e10-fb4d-482b-8470-141958becf82

And most detailers can do a great job for a MUCH lower price than the stealership and it'll look great for several years.

My plan is to get my paint corrected and then apply the ceramic coat myself, but I'm going to wait until spring. Let us know if you move forward and include pictures!

PS. This product is fairly easy to apply/buff off: https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guy...658672&sprefix=ceramic+coating,aps,156&sr=8-5
