  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am going through an owner's manual that I downloaded online and it mentions a "chamber air cleaner" in addition to the main air cleaner. It also says "if equipped." Do any of you guys know what the heck this is?

On the 5.0, there are two air filters. The one that looks normal, and this one that sits in a narrow compartment:ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371607149.434461.webp

If you look closely, you will see the narrow slit this fits into. Have no idea why it's necessary

The extra chamber is there for noise canceling. ;)

According to the manual, the filter is serviceable. Any idea where we can get one or what the part number is on it?

Is it by any chance a charcoal activated filter? My 550i had one attached to the detachable portion of the air box. Apparently it was there to capture fumes that supposedly leak out when the engine is turned off. Most of the guys, including myself, removed it without any adverse affects.

It's a paper filter and easily removed. Not sure of teh part number though. I haven't replaced mine yet as I'm only at 22K miles. I did replace the main one though. Maybe I should check this one as I had forgotten about it till now.

Same here. I replaced the main one with a Wix filter from Rockauto and the original was quite filthy. We need to figure out a part number for this thing.

Ordered myself the filter. After a year of use, I figured it probably wouldn't hurt to replace it. The replacement Wix filter is made in South Korea so that filter is likely specific to the Genesis and produced specifically for Hyundai.

I put the Wix filter in a few days ago and it fit and sealed perfectly :D

Where did you find a downloadable owners manual online?

Thanks, RonJ
