  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The dealer just called and said my car has 54k miles and needs 4 new spark plugs $782.00 and transmission fluid done $490.00.
They suggested, when do I really need to do and is the price normal. I’ve had 5 Genesis and never done before.

Welcome. I have moved this topic out of the community lounge, where we discuss all things EXCEPT Genesis, and into the Genesis G80 forum.

Usually around 60k miles these are maintenance items. You’d have to look up the maintenance schedule for your specific car, it is usually in the owners manual. If they are just suggesting this as preventative or general maintenance, you could defer for now and shop around some for possibly better prices.

Edit: According to the quick reference guide, spark plugs should be changed at 48k and transmission fluid does not need to be changed under normal circumstances.

Tell dealer to “Go Pound Salt”. If not up to 60k miles, say NO. Even after 60K miles, you can probably go to 100K miles. If car running good, just say NO. $782 to change plugs??? Normally, Very easy on 4 cylinder engines. Have not done it on hyundai or Genesis 4 cylinder engines, but I did change plugs on my 2018 Regal 4 cylinder. Plugs cost me less than $5 each. Did the change myself. Very easy. Most 4 cylinder engines very easy.

As for trans fluid, if not called for in owners manual, pass on it.

Dealer wants to make BIG Money on you.
