  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday I stopped off at Chapman Hyundai, 999 Bell Road, Phoenix AZ.

1. Went into the showroom and saw they have a V6 with the $2000 option sitting there. The window stickier shows it listing at $35,000 but there was an additional sign on it that it was discounted down to $30,999. Now a discount of $4,001 is a pritty good deal. They had two V8's and four or five other V6's sitting outside. Don't know if they are discounting all of them, but if the dark blue metalic V6 in the showroom is any indication, it is a good deal. Did not have a chance to talk with a salesperson to see if they were discounting due to the 2010's arriving soon. Don't know.

2. Went to the Service Department. Asked Service Writer Pete if they could run the Air Bag Update ((T-79). Sure. Should take less than an hour. Well, they took it in, and the Technician (sorry, I forgot his name but it is on the paperwork located in my glove box) took all of ten minutes to do the update.
Ten minutes! Then they took my car to the wash area and did a "Complimentary Mini-Detail". Hand washed exterior. Hand dried exterior. Cleaned windows. Vacuum the carpet. It took longer to clean the car than it took to run the T-79 update.

All this cost me nothing. I WAS IMPRESSED.

If I lived in the Phoenix area, this would be my dealer. I gave the Service Writer, and the Tech the web address to this website so they can check it out themselves. If the tech reads this. sorry I forgot your name but it is in the paperwork in my glove box.

I will be back in Roswell NM in a couple days, and will check out the Hyundai dealer there. Last I saw, they had $4000 or $5000 bump up stickers on the windows, plus their oil changes were $38 with no discount coupons last time I checked. Chapman Hyundai oil change is $29 or with coupon, $19.95. Orlando Hyundai oil change is $27 or with coupon. $16.95. Will have to check out the Rochester NY Hyundai Dealer sales and service prices when I go up to Penfield NY in the end of May.

It's great to be retired ;)

Maybe not too many people in Phoenix want a dark blue car. I wouldn't.

Yeah I live in Texas..we have 11 months of summer, I would never buy a dark car. There are people who do though, to each his own I suppose.

WOW I just noticed the final price. They are 1209 below cost (after holdback) on that...it's a STEAL (assuming you get a fair price for your tradein).

It's much worse in Phoenix. The extremely dry air means lot of sunshine and very little humidity to scatter or block the sun's rays.

I've lived here in Phoenix for 25 years. The intensity of the sun during the summer is nothing short of extreme. I've experienced as high as 122 degrees. Last year there were 158 days over 100 and 21 of them over 110. You really don't want a dark car here. The predominant car colors on the street are white and silver.

As for Chapman Hyundai - they don't have a very good reputation here. I live just a few miles from them and chose to drive 12 miles to buy my car at Larry Miller. I did visit Chapman during my purchase process and was not impressed.

Chapman Hyundai was the dealer who said, after I drove 2 hours to see a Genesis I was going to purchase, that they had made a mistake on the price I obtained through USAA car buying service, and would not honor the transaction, even though it was documented via USAA website.

Desperados there! Use caution with this group!

Most likely a demo or a car that was driven be a dealer executive. (If you are not used to seeing discounts like that at that dealer) Either way the car will have a decent amount of miles on it.

Then again, mine listed for $36K and was knocked down to $31K
Then they gave me $18K for a Mercedes that I had bought 3 months prior for $14K

Could be, but it was in the showroom and locked, and I did not talk with a salesperson. Now that I'm in Roswell NM, I can't go back to check on that price again.

Visited Roswell Hyundai yesterday. Will post info on another thread.

They put them in the showoom here. Even though it has miles on it, its considered, and sold, as a new car. Theres an amount of miles they can put on them and still consider it new. Its 5000 or something. I cant remember what the exact number is.

I think the car looks great in black, very classy. Yes it is hot here in Phoenix but there is not that much difference between cars of lighter color as far as heat goes. Out here hot is hot. The interior of mine is cashmere. My wife has covered parking and also leaves the sun shade up. Here's a picture of our car. We do get a lot of double takes and questions about the car.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.

I'd rather have 11 month of sunshine. I"m sick of 3 seasons of hell in the Northeast.

Obviously not. If you want to find out, go to Phoenix in July. While you are there, lean up against a black car sitting in the sun with your bare skin (you had better have some good health insurance if you try this).

You can be absolutely assured they are not selling at a loss. Invoice is just a crock!!! I really hate when a salesman treats me like an idiot.

If you have done your homework prior to stepping foot on the lot, you have done yourself a tremendous service which makes them look like idiots! It is nice to see them cringe when you throw accurate numbers back at them!

Not even kidding!

If you would lean against any car in July with your bare skin in July you would get burnt no matter the color.
