  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We have an 09 3.6L Genesis and it's navi hasn't been updated for at least 3 or 4 years... I just checked mapnsoft and it's about 170 bucks + shop time... wow!

Is there a cheaper way of doing this? DIY? Some "open source" maps I can feed it?

Fairly normal price for Luxury cars. Some are 300.00 plus. Sometimes the mfg will offer free updates but who knows when.

+1: $170 is a bargain relative to other cars.

Do you live in White Rock and drive a Black 2009 Tech????

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Well the software is $170. If you have a touch system then you can apply the upgrade yourself. If, however, you have the tech (aka "the wheel") system then the upgrade is only available through the dealer and the dealer will add the cost of his labor (usually $100) for a total of approximately $270 to $300 for the upgrade. Also the mapnsoft website (Hyundai's NAV software division, I think) warns that Version 8 (the latest) can only be added on top of Version 7...

If you have the tech (wheel) version of the NAV unit then it 's good that the upgrade is only available at the Hyundai dealer. Upgrading my tech system failed twice, "bricking" my system each time, and Hyundai replaced the entire head unit twice. Can you imagine if this failure occurred while you applied the upgrade? Try explaining that to the dealership. You would be SOL!

Even though I would much rather have the built in system loaded with the latest software, the price and hassle of obtaining that software makes that portable, LIFETIME free maps Garmin even more attractive. Using your Smart phone is also a good option.

I've been using Waze on my phone more and more. However, if you are driving in an area without decent cell service with your carrier, then there's nothing like a built-in nav system! Works when the phone doesn't!
