  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Because it has been 12 months and 7000 miles since I changed out the Full Synthetic Oil in my Continental, I decided to get it changed today at my local Lincoln-Mercury Dealer. While there, I looked at both the 2010 Lincoln MKS and the MKZ. They are not good looking cars, (look stubby) but just the same, I looked.

The MKS had an MSRP of over $41,000 and that was with NO GPS. Standard 3.7 engine. The MKZ had an MSRP of over $40,000 but it DID have the GPS. Standard 3.5 engine.

Did not spend much time with the MKZ, but did sit in the MKS. Interior was great (except for no GPS) but when I sat in the rear seat, forget it. Our Genesis has twice as much room for my rear seat passengers.

Did I mention that I don't like their looks  Don't matter, when I'm ready to trade the Continental, I'm thinking of the 2011 Senata or if I make my second million by then, the 2011 Equus. :D

I looked at the MKS a couple of months ago and there were a couple of things I didn't like. One was that, with the drivers seat all the way back, the end of the floor carpet was clearly visible - not what you expect in a luxury car. Much worse though was the outward visibility. The dashboard is too high, even with the driver's seat all the way up, and the window sills are too high - a little like sitting in a bathtub.

My neighbor has a brand new black MKS w/ the Ecoboost V6 and large OEM chrome wheels (20" I believe). It's a stunner IMO.

I have no clue how it rides/handles, but from an aesthetic point of view, I find it to be quite striking. It's the only Lincoln to wear their new corporate grille well. On the MKS it's appropriately scaled and flows well with the rest of the car. On the MKZ & new MKT it's far too large and distracting.

Hyundai did a good job.
Interior spacious is certainly next level.(BMW 7, S-Class, Audi A8)

I got to thinking, if the MKS with the standard engine, and NO GPS lists out for more than $41,000, just how much would an MKS with the EcoBoost engine (that puts out less HP and much less gas milage than the Genesis V8) and GPS cost??

Beaucoup Bucks!!!!!!!!

Not to mention how fast the value of these cars fall... (I am not as certain about the MKS, but I know thw MKZ drops fairly quickly.) I looked at both of these cars before I bought a Genesis. I like the red color of the MKS...very striking.

I like the MKS a lot. I did a test drive of the new Ecoboost AWD model before I bought the LS460. It rode quite nice, had great handling and good road manners. The technology definitely surpassed that of my Genesis. I think it's a nicely styled car as well.

I personally felt the interior appointments seemed a bit cheap. I also felt it was a bit overpriced (the one I was looking at hit almost $50k) - but as with any american car, you're paying the premium for a guy to sweep the floor of the factory for $60k/yr.

Lincoln/Ford have really stepped up their game the past couple of years.

In terms of resale value -- if that's important to you, I'd advise against buying a Hyundai as well.
