  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have had my 2015 Genesis Tech for about 3 weeks. I've noticed just as leave or approach my building, I hear a soft "ding dong" chime. I don't see anything on the instruments. Does anyone know what this might be?

Re: Ding Dong

I had it in my 2012 when I migrated to a Galaxy S4 smartphone. It came from the phone asking something about pairing.
Once answered the ding dong ended.
I went close to crazy when it started. Then realized the phone was the only new thing.
Solution: just answer the phone question.

Re: Ding Dong

If you have home set to your building, you will get a chime when you approach. I get the chime before I turn the corner to our street because the angle of the road brings me close to my house. Some day I will get around to turning it off.

You will also get a chime when passing addresses that you have placed in your address book, even when not navigating to them. The way to silence the chime is to edit the entry in the address book and turn off the notification. I'm not at the car at the moment, but it is pretty obvious what you have to do on the edit screen.

Re: Ding Dong

Thanks, John. I do have home set and that does make sense. I'll probably leave it on. I just wanted to know what triggered it.

The ding-dong was annoying... I muted the volume on Navi for now until I figure out how to cancel/delete my "home" setting.

Go in to your address book, select home and switch off sound. I think by default when you add an entry, sound is always enabled.

I set mine to chime. My slightly blond daughter asked- 'is that so blind people know they are home?'

Good question for a passenger!:)
