  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys just wondering what everyone uses to clean there cars? I'm trying to figure out the best interior cleaning for the aluminum trim inside. It seems to always have finger prints or smudges on it. I have the same problem with the exterior as well.

Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer (QD). Lightly scented, water-based with alcohol. No streaks, quick drying, pleasant smell during use which quickly disappears totally. Great stuff. Available at Walmart, auto parts stores, and the usual online culprits.

For the outside trim where you see finger prints (such as on chrome or paint), try a "detailer" spray and a very soft microfiber cloth. This is essentially a quick wax that goes on as one step. One such product is Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer. It is best if the area has been first waxed with a traditional car wax (I recommend a synthetic polymer wax such as Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax).

If you go to a discount or auto parts store, you will also find interior spray cleaners such as Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner.

Not being a brand whore, just recommending based on price, personal experience, and the experience of my friends, some of which are detailers, I'll give my 2 cents:

Interior: Adam's Polished Leather/Interior cleaner with a couple microfiber cloths. I also have a nice small brush to get the crumbs and other bits out of the tiny cracks.

Exterior:
Wash - Adam's car shampoo and wool wash pad
While drying, using soft higher quality microfibers - Adam's Guard and Gloss(sealant)

And if it has never been done, or if the paint after a good wash doesn't feel slick/smooth, I clay bar with a spray bottle of water with a very small amount of soap

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You can go nuts trying to find the best cleaning products (I think I've tried them all)
BUT I always end up with Meguiar's products.............. reasonably priced plus a wide selection of products.

Exterior: Zaino AIO, Z6, etc. Zaino border free towels are also amazing.

Interior: Einszett cockpit premium

For washing every week I use Meguiars Gold Shampoo and conditioner. I clay my cars once or twice a year, polish with Pinnacle Advance Finishing Polish then in summer (I live in Florida) I wax with Collinite 915 and reinforced with Pinnacle Souverain Liquid wax after every wash. On winter I wax with Pinnacle Souverain paste wax and reinforce with the liquid wax after every wash. For removing birds poop, light dust and fingerprints I use Meguiars G3626 Wash Anywhere Spray then put some Souverain liquid wax on top of it.

How bad are "love bugs" down there? I've heard their innards eat right through clear coat and paint. Is any of that true?

Yes, that's true, if you let them more than 24h they could damage your clear coat. Best thing to do is a good car wash ASAP. They appear on May and September but usually don't come to Miami where I live, they stay northern Palm Beach County (60-70 miles away)

I current use Chemical Guys interior detailer. Works on pretty much all interior surfaces, has uv protection, and works great on my navigation and heads up display. It also has a pleasant sent of pineapple. Leather care, I do a combo of chemical guys leather cleaner spray and their serum. I don't bother with the conditioner one because the serum seems to be the same thing but better with less shine. I also treat all my glass on the outside with rainx including the pano sunroof.

What brand are those RED towels?

I'm not sure. I know you can get them on amazon but I don't remember the brand. I usually order a pack from AMMO anytime I place an order.
