  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The following body colored plastic pieces have severe clear coat blistering:
both outside mirrors; all 4 door handles and both roof rail molding.
I have the following question:
Do the mirrors and door handles have to be removed to paint and clear coat or can they
be masked out in place?
I'm the original owner, I had both roof rail moldings replaced and body painted and clear coated once before under
warranty but it didn't last very long. The mirrors and door handles have never been repainted.

That's more a question for your paint shop - their skill and confidence level. I wouldn't use the same one you did for the roof rails.

I would think that for the best outcome - yes they would want to remove the pieces.

My rear bumper is the only body part that is blistering and has a slight yellow color on the upper side by the trunk lid. My front bumper was peeling badly due to being sand blasted. That is solved due to a collision in Feb 2023 and again in Mar 2024 when I hit a deer. Still looking into the rear bumper clear coat solution.
