  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Evening folks ,today on my ride home my car loss pwer and proceeded with a CEL with the code p2138..Anyone have any experience with this? It seems to be tps releated...thanks in advance

I may have a clue, but not a solution. It appears there are internet rumors that the pedal position sensor (PPS) can wear out at 75K miles. The Standard Motor Products (NYSE: SMP) mega corporation distributes APS706, the gas pedal from a Korean OEM Manufacturer for about half the price of the typical dealer. The entire pedal assembly can be replaced for less than $150, using only a pocket screwdriver and a 10mm socket on a 1/4 rachet extension. YouTube videos abound on how to do this. The PPS signal is processed by the ECM and forwarded to the electric throttle body, which feeds back to the ECM. If your P2138 error persists, change the pedal first. If this is not the cure, clean and lube your throttle body butterfly valve system.

I’ve gotten that code about 5 times in last two weeks. G70 3.3t. I need to take it in. Just hit 15000 miles 2023.

You're under warranty, just take it in and have the dealer deal with it.

For whatever reason you want to DIY it, try the free easy stuff first like cleaning the throttle body before throwing parts at it.

I have read online reports that state that the pedal response products could initiate the CEL 2138, so if you are using a "pedal response" control product, unplug it from the PPS system and put the connector back onto the OEM pedal before you buy an expensive new pedal. After I purchased the shiny new pedals for one of our Gennies, it did not change the pedal response or power curve. I have also installed a 9-drive style of "commander". It was fun and effective, but I removed it because the pedal was too sensitive. Our Gennies have the three switchable performance choices that do a better job than the third-party device I installed.
