  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Should I consider installing an AFE cold air intake to my 2011 Hyundai Genesis, Will it improve my car's fuel efficiency and horsepower?

Being someone who loves to tinker with cars, I always loved intakes. Fun, easy mod that generally yields small gains, improved fuel economy, and adds some fun noise.

With that said, the Genesis crowd seems to have experience with little to no gains. I really want to pick one up for my V6 DH, but don’t want to waste money on something that may not help.

One thing I’m curious about... most people indicate there will be no change without a tune because the factory Ecu will compensate. I think there’s a lot of truth in that, but I’m curious about a few things:
1. The engine takes as much air as it can get by vacuum. So if the engine got more air than factory intake allows, it’s not going to restrict/regulate the air somehow. Soooo if the factory intake restricts some airflow and a cai intake frees up that airflow that the engine can utilize, that should provide gains imo (??)
2. In addition to that, if a cai provides more airflow, more easily than the factory intake, but the Ecu compensates and adjusts the a/f ratios, the engine is still taking in air more easily, so even if the fuel is adjusted to keep the same afr’s, the engine is making power easier meaning better fuel efficiency (??)

Just something I’ve been curious about I’d love to hear opinions on.
