  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey Everybody,
I have problems starting my 3.8 GDI engine from time to time after the car was in the garage for few days. It is not doing it very often.
I press the brake pedal, pushing the start button, the engine starter motor is running smoothly, it keeps running for 6-7-8 seconds, there is one beep-beep-beep sound after the 4-5 second, and after all of that the engine starts.
Someone has this? Or any clue what is causing it?

Car is Hyundai Genesis 2016 3.8 GDI with 120K miles on it. I'm first and only owner.

P.S. in the very past it happened several times, but I didn't emerge. Now for a not more than 2 months, did it 4 times.

Try to run a potent fuel system cleaner in the gas tank to clean the fuel system and the injectors. It seems to me that the air to fuel ratio is the culprit and that is potentially due to carbon build up too. Also try to clean the throttle body and use CRC Intake Valve Cleaner through the Throttle Body or through the vacuum line. Ideally if you have an OBD scanner, scan the systems for error codes first. Good luck.

Throttle valve is new, it was changed before 10K miles. I will try with cleaning the fuel system as easiest.
I left the car to the dealer to check it for 2 days, it starts normal every morning there...
At home for the last 2 weeks, for 10 morning ignitions, at least 5 of them were tough.
I captured it on video:

and this is the normal cold start:

Ask the dealer to check the alternator and to check the ignition coils for wear.

Watched ur video, started sounds good. Don’t think its an alternator problem else you would be having more issues then just this. Spark/coil problem the engine would be misfiring when running.

Sounds like a fuel related problem IMO.
Before u start the car, leave your foot OFF the brakes and press the start button twice to go into accessory mode to turn the fuel pump on.
Let it sit in accessory mode for 5 seconds, then press the start button again to turn accessory mode off. Repeat this once more THEN try to start the car.

If it starts right up no problem every time you do this, you have a fuel pressure issue and your fuel rails aren’t holding pressure when the car is off.

Faulty check valve in one of the two fuel pumps will cause this, leaky injector, or leak in fuel line/fuel rail.

thanks Amgil,
that's what we spoke with dealer, their opinion is about something related to fuel - preassure, fuel lines and etc.
Car is running after ignition very fine, no problems at all, no engine shaking or misfires, or any other performance issues..
That's why will start with additive for fuel system cleaning.

Yeah start with the fuel additive but now I am of the opinion that it could be an issue related toy the fuel pump. There are two pumps, low pressure and high pressure. Good luck.

Crank shaft position sensor is going bad. This happened to my car. I just recently changed mine and it works perfectly again.
