  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Now that the weather is getting cooler, my 2015 Genesis has developed a mysterious creaking noise coming from the front passenger seat area. I'm not sure what causes the noise, but the noise only comes when the temps are in the 50s or lower. It will generally happen while the body of the vehicle is flexing while driving. In addition, if the car is left in the sun and is warm, the sound is gone. Any ideas what it might be? I've linked a video below.

it is common for struts and springs to creak with colder weather but that doesn't really sound like a squeak associated with that. maybe others that live in states with colder weather have more experience with this.

I have not heard that one before.

Sounds like creak/rattle from the overhead map light console that I had - the dealer removed and reinstalled in the "correct position" (per the work order receipt) and it has not come back so far.

the headrest on my passenger seat will occasionally rattle a bit when nobody is sitting in the seat.

I'll talk to my dealer tomorrow. My car is in right now to replace the tracks for the sunroof, which were apparently causing the rattle during warm weather. Go figure...

I thought it might be that too, but I applied pressure to the seat/headrest while driving and still had the same noise. Even buckled in the seatbelt just to make sure it wasn't anything related to that mechanism; oh well, the dealer has a copy of the video and will hopefully figure out what the issue is.

At the end of the day, I really hope Hyundai Motor America reads this forum. There's quite a bit of problems here for this car, even for a first year model!

I had that done as well - it helped, but as I've used the sunroof more, I'm hearing a return of rattles when the roof is closed. I personally feel the panoramic roof is a problematic design and wish they ditched it for a conventional sunroof. I've never had any noise issues with sunroofs on any other car I've owned - and all were at much lower price points!

I rarely use mine and I am hoping that will keep the rattles at bay for the foreseeable future. I don't know how long I could handle that.

I to had a noise coming from the driver seat in the cold weather (2012) Tech.
Came from where the seat rubbed against the center counsel.
I stuffed a soft cloth into that area so you could barely see it and the sound was gone.
Next time you hear that sound, jam your hand down between seat and lower arm rest area, see if it goes away.

+1 I've got a small hand-towel in-between my seat and the console for exactly that reason.

have any of you noticed the passenger seat belt buckle banging against the B pillar on the passenger side when going over bumps...unless you have the setting on the B pillar on its uppermost setting?? found that annoying at first!

I was going to mention that. I buckle the belt up when I'm driving alone which is most of the time.
