  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

COLUMBIA HYUNDAI 10981 MONTGOMERY ROAD CINCINNATI , OH 45249 (513) 489-2000

Gets a BIG thumbs down from me for my first 3000 mile oil change experience.

I have the push button start feature on my 2010 Genesis Coupe. I guess some of the service people at my dealership are a little slow. She does not start the car but she turns the car on and the turns the lights on to get my mileage for my first oil change. She gets the info as I am walking to the waiting room. After about ten minutes of listening to 2 small children screaming I decide to go walk around the dealer lot to stretch my legs and that is when I notice my car sitting there with all my lights on and the ignition. (Did I mention the motor was not on?) Guess what that does to the new battery? Yea it's not good for it.

Please don't try that at home kids. (sigh)

I really cant tell if they changed my oil or not because it still looked really dirty. They only charged me $2.13 per quart. WTF kind of cheap oil are they supposedly putting in my new car? Was it some kind of recycled oil that looks dirty as hell? How cheap are these guys anyways? They never listed what brand or even what viscosity they used!?!?!

They double billed me on something called "service kit-oil F" ?!?!? Yes 2 lines identacal lines same price. Times must be a little tight at my dealership.

Thank goodness after I contacted Hyundai they helped me get this double billing / over charging taken care of.

Thanks again Hyundai.

Any how I am looking into doing my own oil changes from here on out or trying to find a place that I feel I can trust.

So how does that 10 year 100,000 mile warranty play out when you don't trust the dealer???

Have a great day!

1. If the oil looked dirty, they did not change it, or the filter.

2. Partly your fault. ALWAYS WATCH THEM. Do Not Take Their Word. If they won't allow you in the back, watch through the door. If you can't see the car, tell them that you changed your mind, and you will take it somewhere else, where you can see it, even if it is the corner garage. (buy an oil filter before you take it elsewhere, as most other places may not have a filter for it).

3. Keep all your receipts. If you buy your own oil, keep the dated receipts and make a log of the date and milage when you changed your own oil. In the past, I have even cut the Brand logo & weight out of the oil jugs to prove that I used the correct oil, and kept them in a safe place. If you have the corner garage do the job, make sure that they mark on the Repair Order and receipt the brand and weight and type of oil used.

BTW, don't use the "Quick Lube" type of places. I've heard too many horror stories about them, plus they always try to sell you stuff you don't want/need. Check it out in Ripoffreport.com

UPDATE:

Went back to the dealer today to address my concerns over the oil change and that I have noticed my hood seemed like it was not fitting properly.

When I mentioned my concerns over the oil being dark and that I have a trust issue after the double line billing he became VERY confrontational. One of the first things he said was that I was calling "HIM A LIAR" since I was questioning whether or not the tech really changed my motor oil. My first thought was WHOA is this guy stable?

At that time I felt it was in my best interest to get away from that guy before I did or said anything I might regret. I was getting really pissed. I am normally a really mellow guy and my day was starting out so nicely.

I did get back to the body shop and they did some adjustments on my hood and it fits much better. The guys in the body shop got me in and out in ten minutes. They were GREAT.

Called back later and spoke with the Manager and he asked me to speak with him for my next appointment and they will let me watch them do the oil change. He was very emphatic that he wanted to do whatever it took to win my business back.

I thought that was nice of him... I might give them another chance.

Don't you just hate it when some jerk says: "Are you calling me a liar?" Anyone that says that is a real ----- (well, you get the idea). Did you tell the Service Manager what the Service Writer said to you?

As for not changing the oil, when you look at a dip stick that has brand new oil on it, you normally can't even see the oil on the stick, because it is so clean. Old oil is very visible.

Yea, when I do my own oil changes as I normally have done for at least 20 years I normally have to move the dip stick to see the oil since it is so clear. That is my real concern when I saw the oil looked dirty.

When I spoke to the manager he was either real sincere or a better actor the Jesse James with Sandra Bullock... Oh wait didn't he screw over Sandra? LOL

I also contacted the Hyundai complaint line to one complain about the Jerk and to give accolades to the Body shop guys and the service manager.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If they use synthetic (not at $2.33 pwe qt) such as Mobil 1, it is a dark amber color when new.

Re: Columbia Hyundai... Run Forest RRRUN!!!!! "DOH" gonna give them a second chance

Update:

The Service manager was kind enough to call and send an email to let me know that if I have any questions and or needed any service work done to feel free to contact him directly from here on out and that he would be happy to help.

I must admit that I am a little more than slightly impressed. I am starting to think that I should not slam the whole dealership just because of one jerk service writer. I guess we all have bad days

I will go back... I just hope I don't regret it

I'll be interested to see what my experience is like with the Columbia Hyundai service department. I bought 2012 3.8 w/ Premium from them. I had to get the salesman to accept that I would drive into Indiana to buy my Genesis before I got them to stray from the "$150 over invoice" model.

I forced them to do out-the-door pricing so I could do an accurate comparision of the various deals I was negotiating.

I'll report back in a couple months after my first encounter.

Hi Zacksdaddy! :welcome:

I have been going back for service for some time now and have not seen that ticket writer or the lady that takes down mileage since. I do not know if they no longer work there or what the story is.

I would not wish for anyone to lose a job in these difficult times.

I have been very happy since the one unfortunate experience. I am still cautious every time I go. I give the car a quick once over every time I get it back. Thus far my experience has been quite good. My trust has been restored in them yet sadly after being thru one bad time I am a little more vigilant in checking my bill before I pay.

I have 25,000 miles on my 2010 Genesis Coupe and my wife and I still love the car. The only thing I have done to it is put on some Michelin all season sport tires. I would not recommend the Bridgestone summer tires for winter.

Best of luck with your purchase. I am sure you will be very happy with your car as we are with ours.
