Compustar and Drone mobile experience?

Okay, so I know they’re probably some other threads with some thoughts on this, but people here who have Compustar and/or drone mobile on your Genesis, how do you like it? How well does it integrate with the vehicle? Can you still use the button on the door to unlock it in a remote start and also, does the seat move forwards when the car starts via remote or after you get in like with the Bluelink remote start? Also, did any of you get the 3x lock remote start enabled from the factory fob?

Is it really worth 600-700 dollars for me to get it installed? I’m in Texas so we have pretty hot summers.

Got mine installed by Best Buy a few years ago when it was on sale at $300. 4905s-Kit with the Drone module. I see it's now $619!

The door switch works as usual. It does move the seat forward. It starts in the positions you left them in, such as lights and HVAC and stereo. I'm pretty sure the key fob will start it with three pushes of the lock button but it's been a long time since I tried that function. The stock key fob doesn't have much of a range so I never use it. I did have some problems with the fob that came with the kit. It would occasionally lock the car in the garage all by itself. I removed the batt and never use it. We only use the phone to remote start.

I installed the same system on my wife's 2019 Mazda CX-5 for around $250. Bought most of the pieces off of Ebay. Very easy with the Compustar harness made for the Mazda. Toughest part was finding a good place to put the Drone module under the dash. Compustar did not have a harness adapter for the 2015 Genesis, so it had to be hard wired, the reason for letting BB install it (that and the price was too good to turn down)

If you install it yourself, you'll need their USB 'Connec' module to register it. I think that was another $50. Once you have that tool, you can register as many modules as you want.

In the end, it works great. No complaints.

Thanks for the reply! So you’re saying that the seat moves forward before you get into the vehicle or after you get into the vehicle and step on the brake? Also, does the radio come on when it remote starts or does it only come on after you get in and step on the brake? Yes, i remember seeing it on sale at Best Buy a couple weeks ago and regret not taking advantage of it. Also, afaik, Compustar told me that the 3x lock on the factory keyfob has to be programmed by the installer. What is the cheapest way to get it installed? A shop near me is offering Compustar and drone mobile without the compustar keyfob but with 3x lock on the factory keyfob for $750!!! Also, has you had any problems with battery drain? Can you leave the vehicle sitting for a week and still come back to it and start it right up? Also, do you have any auxes hooked up ( like heated seats or rear defroster)? Also, how would you set the climate co trip? Would you just leave it in auto?

Also, does drone mobile give you a notification if the factory alarm is triggered? And can drone mobile read dtcs like how Bluelink could?

Simply put. When it starts... it assumes you're in the car and you pushed the starter button.

If you're not in a hurry, keep an eye on BB's website for it to go on sale again.

I just started the car with the stock fob. It may have been programmed by the BB installer.

Cheapest install is by you getting the DC-3 unit and the Drone module. All the wiring info is available on Compustar's (or Firstech's) site. The Genesis wasn't that complicated but again, for the price I let them do it.

On the Mazda, I had a hard time finding a shop to register my install. The cheapest was $50 and for that price I bought the 'Connec' module and did it myself. You actually have to go on their website and act as if you are an installer to register the unit but I had no problems doing that.

I will add that I did a hard install CrimeStopper remote start on my wife's old Santa Fe and it was a thorough pain.

As for battery drain... I had my two year old Interstate a9(AGM) go dead after the car sat in the garage untouched for a week. Luckily it charged back up and had no issues. Don't blame that all on the remote starter.

I just hit the four year mark on this batt (car was starting fine) and I left the ignition on for 45-60 minutes last week doing the latest Genesis firmware update and it was down to 6v. Everything shut down. Luckily it finished the update. It charged back up but wouldn't hold over 11.98v and I replaced the batt. So much for $250 'Superior Technology AGM' batteries. The stock lead acid batt in the Santa Fe lasted seven years. OK... I get it that car didn't sit around and suck juice like the Genesis.

My Genesis sat in a salvage yard for a month (2018) and completely killed the three year old original battery.

If I know the car is going to sit for a while, it goes on the battery tender.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my delayed response. I bought the same kit as you and am getting it installed in a couple weeks. One other question.

How tacky does the antenna for the Compustar keyfob look near the windshield? Should I ask the tech to just not install the Compustar antenna as I plan to just use the 3x lock and drone mobile?

Also, did the Best Buy tech do a good job at hiding everything and making everything look factory?

Also, can you clarify on the battery drain? Like can you leave it sitting for a week now and start it up with a good battery now?
