  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My son has my Explorer so I am driving the Genesis. I passed 7 cars that were burried on I91 S. as well as a Cadillac STS in the bushes. During my commute this moring secondary highways were not plowed and most exits were not plowed. This car is fine in the snow. No problems to report.
Arrived at about 6:15 am.

Good to hear that you're doing well in the snow. Here in central Al. the problem on the roads is ice. What little precip is left melts during the day and freezes overnight. I haven't been driving the Genesis since the weekend, so I'm using my old car. I don't want to chance it, especially with the stock Dunlops.

What kind of tires are you running?

What kind of tires are you running?

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

Cost $100.00 plus my Dunlops, road force balanced, for all 4 tires NOT each

Winner of the 'Best Ultra High Performance All Season Tire'

2nd place 'Toyo PROXES 4 All season Tires'

We also got a few inches of snow last night and while the car is driving fine in the snow, accelerating from a stop is a chore.
Looking at a BMW535xi and a VW R32 accelerate like nothing made me a little jealous.

Try shifting over to the pseudo-manual at a stop, and start in 2nd. Once moving, shift back to D. It works for me, your mileage may vary!

And turn off the ESC, so you don't remove power from the wheels.

I had a horrible time this morning with the stock tires in 2" of snow.

I'm near CT(I work in Norwalk) - where'd you get this deal? I'd definitely go in on it if I could.

You can't claim nobody warned you! .:D I'm a few miles south of you, and with my Blizzaks I never spun a wheel.

I knew about it, I just wanted to see how bad it really was. The downside is now I can't find snow tires anywhere. OOPS...

Don't panic, Living in Maryland I would not buy dedicated snow tires. Get a set of all seasons. In a few days the roads will be clear, and you can get a set of All Season Bridgestones or Michelins from Tire Rack.

Both of our folks live in Michigan, so we drive there quite a bit. I'll probably be getting some snows pretty soon. It isn't just about the snow, I've noticed they do poorly in the cold as well. With a little one now, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I agree - I live in MD, but often drive north (PA, NJ), so I'd rather have the best snow performance I can get.

Yeah, I'm on the stock Dunlops.
They're not as bad as I thought, compared to a Vette with Goodyear Supercar tires. :D
The R32 had the stock all seasons, and so did the 535xi.
When using all-seasons, AWD definitely handled better.
