If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently had the pleasure if test driving a 23 GV60 Performance model and I really enjoyed it! Man, that thing is fast. I have questions:

Is the battery life just 3-5 years? I read that somewhere, so I want to confirm.

Free charging through Electrify America for 3 years but there is only one station somewhat close to me at 45 minutes away; roughly how much is it to charge anywhere else other than at home?

I have also heard the resale value is low. Is this true?

I am sure I will have more questions before I finally decide to switch. I also should mention I am currently driving a 23 GV80 and my husband has a 22 G70. I really love my Genesis .

I just bought a GV60P and love it. The electrical systems have a 10/100,000 warranty. If the battery fails it is covered. Probably cheaper to charge from home since a EA station is that far away. It is about .50 a kWh. Hard to comment on resale value as its only in the second year. Leases have the best rebates right now and would protect you from bad resale values.

The entire electric vehicle system including the traction battery is warranted 10 years or 100k miles. It's truly unfortunate that there are many EV haters out there spreading misinformation.

Our experience with non EA Level 3 charging ranges from about 30 to 50 cents per KWH, roughly double to triple what it costs us to charge at home.

No question resale value has been hurt by Tesla's huge price reductions. When the GV60 first arrived here in the U.S. pricing for the GV60 was pretty comparable to a Model Y Performance. That's no longer the case, and it was easy to see our GV60's value drop each time the Model Y's price dropped significantly.

No doubt others here will point out the GV60 is a much nicer car. I agree, but it it worth the current difference in prices? Only you can determine that. We own one of each, and predictably we find each has advantages and disadvantages.

If we had to replace one today and the pricing was similar, I would chose the GV60 every time. But with the current price difference and especially if you qualify for the Federal EV Tax Credit, our choice would be the Model Y.

Battery life is MUCH longer than 3-5 years, Warranties vary by region, but in Canada is 8 years, IIRC. It's tough to say exactly how long one should expect the battery to last, because degradation occurs over time, but one could likely expect 75%+ of original range at about 15 years, if properly cared for.

Cost of charging will vary by provider. If you check the EA app, Chargepoint, etc. you'll get an idea of pricing.

Resale value varies by vehicle. I'm not sure whether there is a substantial difference in EV vs. ICE resale. With the turmoil in car prices of recent, and the GV60 being so new, I'm not sure anything can be said about GV60 resale value.

Yeah with the price of the Model Y Performance now under $45k with the Federal credit, tough to justify an extra $25k+ for a GV60 now. I do expect to take flack for pointing that out on a GV60 thread, but there's no hiding the obvious issue. KBB says the trade in value of our GV60 Performance with 10k miles is only $52k and Carvana's offer to buy our car (flawless condition) is under $50k.

Ouch! Glad we are not planning to sell or trade our GV60 anytime soon.

Not sure I agree with a $25K gap. I got my '23 GV60P for $57k four weeks ago.

EDIT to add: Also how much is the EA charging worth over three years. $10-$15k

If your only EA is 45 minutes away, it's not worth it to drive there to charge up. Can you charge at home? Are there TESLA Superchargers close to you? At some point (2024/2025?) the GV60 should be able to use the Tesla Super Chargers. If you can't wait for that to happen, then I would consider a TESLA or other EV's that uses the TELSA Superchargers. I have tried EVGO at 42 cents to 54 cent a KW.

If you can't take advantage of the EA charging plan then you could be losing $10-15k over three years.

How many miles a year are you basing that on?
No idea. I figure you can easily charge $70 a week on EA at there rates. $70 a week x 52 weeks x 3 years = $10,920

Just seem high. I drive 8000 miles a year and average $25 a week for gas. I don't know the accuracy but I saw figures of 5 cents a mile for electric., home charge rates of .15/kW That would be $8 a week for me. I know on the road it is much more.

I should add that the huge depreciation should be pretty much behind us know and going forward I expect it to be "normalized".

Take another year, or two, to learn much more about EVs unless your ashtrays are full. If they are full now, though, you have a good reason to switch from your current ‘23 and ‘22 vehicles that you love.

At that price I could be interested in buying another one. Which dealer was this? How many miles were on the car? Is that price net of any tax credits or other governmental incentives?

Thank you so much for everyone's input! I live in Central Arkansas and there are EV Charging stations other than Electrify America around me. I would definitely ensure i had the ability to charge at home for a piece of mind knowing I won't have to worry about charging. I drive approximately 36 miles a day and spend around $50-$70 filling my GV80 every week. The thought of never pumping gas again is just so nice! I will continue to do my research before I jump in and trade my GV80. Arkansas was never on the list to get the Electrified versions, so it might just be best to wait.

Does this mean that I couldn't charge at any other charging station? How many KW's does it use to charge to 80%?

This is the wrong math to be using. Without free charging, the alternative for most would be charging at home. For $5K/yr I could drain and fully recharge my battery EVERY DAY. Not going to happen.

I don't know that the tax credit would be my deciding factor! Genesis just makes a damn nice car! I have also read that the tax credit is going away and a rebate would apply at the point of sale in 2024.

I see this in a completely different light.

3 years of EA charging is worth virtually nothing to me, because why would anyone charge at EA if they can charge at home?

Even just the inconvenience of going to the charger negates the cost savings, IMO.
