  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This consideration is for the wifie's which would be her new car. Her current car is SF 2020 Limited 2.0 T which to me is a bit weak in the power train. Otherwise the car has been running perfect for us in over three years now. I currently own the 19 G70 3.5TT Ultimate and loving every minute of it.
As the old saying goes if it ain't break do not mess with it.
Is the GV70 as reliable as other Hyundai models (I've owned 5 Hyundai models as far back as since 2011?
Your inputs please.

Don't think there is such a thing as a GV70 Sport Ultimate - depends on where you're at in the world though.

There are some challenges with the GV70 since it is a brand new vehicle - I think they corrected some things from 2022 in the 2023 model, but they certainly didn't do any major changes. The most common problems on this forum include:
* eLSD - Limited slip rear end problems requiring parts replacements
* rear differential (on 2.5T models) - requires replacement
* transfer case (creates an AWD error light on the dash) - requires parts replacements

There have been some other issues here and there like fuel injectors/fuel pump, front struts breaking through at the top (front), etc. but honestly nothing I haven't seen in any other forum with any other new vehicles.

The parts take a while to get - usually about 4 weeks so if you have an issue that strands your vehicle, it's a bit of a wait.

Also...the service in the US seems pretty poor in most states - many report waiting 3 months or more just to make an appointment, concierge services are not offered because they don't have spare vehicles, service managers from Hyundai don't seem to make Genesis repairs a priority - or know how to address issues.

My experience here in Canada has been very good though - always had concierge service - I had the rear diff problem but could still drive it while I waited for parts and the service manager has been excellent.

It's a great vehicle but there are some growing pains with a brand new vehicle - and a still-growing Genesis dealership network (at least in the U.S.)

I was originally wanting a GV70 but am now shifting towards the Santa Fe figuring it's more sorted than the Genesis.

The Santa Fe has some issues with the transmission. ;)

Like I said, every vehicle has some kind of issues you need to deal with when buying it new, but it is all covered under the warranty!

Our Santa Fe is as good as the car can be. We've never had any issue some might even call it a perfect car or it's pretty darn close being perfect. My only minor whip is the weak power train for the size and weight of the vehicle. Besides that we wanted a bit more luxurious and power in which the GV70 might fit the ticket.
We just test drove the GV70 3.5TT Prestige model this afternoon and I loved the acceleration (sport mode of course) and the sound of the exhaust while at it . The card feels solid on highway speed and I noticed the road noise a bit more pronouncing for an AWD vs front wheel drive. Having never owned an AWD so that's just a guess. I wished it had Brembo brake like my G70. :-( but the braking is excellent. It was a bit late so my salesman told me I could come back on Monday and I could use the car for most of the day to get a bit more feel with it. Will see what happens next.

So, is it for your wife or maybe for you? :ROFLMAO:
Seriously....the GV70 3.5 is as quick as my '18 g80 sport was! If she complains about how sluggish SF is, then get her a new car! Thank God, my wife is happy with hers 2020 SF. ~34k miles and not a single issue since we bought it brand new.

Lol..How ya doing my friend.
Yeah the SF's power plan is definitely weak by comparison for me all right as you know.
It's funny too that I am also looking at the mauna Red color like yours. How do you like the GV70?
The infotainment controls seems a bit weird and maybe hard for the wife to get a hang of.
Consumer report does not like the infotainment control at all as it calls a nightmarish system?
I started seeing a bit of that quirk yesterday after 15min test drive.

Yes, face facts, the wife is probably quite happy with her Santa Fe. Other forces are at work here.

I test drove a GV70 last fall. Afterwards, I was more than happy to climb back into my ‘19 Santa Fe 2.0 Turbo, as well as my ‘22 Tucson 2.5 Limited. The 2.0 T Santa Fe is plenty fast enough. My Tucson is slower, but the handling far exceeds the Santa Fe.

It may be covered under warranty, but from what I see on this forum that doesn't leave me feeling all warm and fuzzy. Folks are waiting weeks and longer to get their car back from Genesis and then it's not always fixed. And loaners seem to be rare. From where I'm sitting the GV70 has teething problems because it's a new model. Fair enough. But with dismal service, I'm not interested.

Santa Fe has been around a lot longer but it has a new transmission which also seems to be having teething problems.

If my Sorento got totaled tomorrow and I had to get another SUV, it would be an Audi Q5. As a model it's not new, the 2.0T engine is not new and the transmission is not new. And of course any vehicle is capable of having a problem, but the Q5 is starting out from a solid base with not a lot of unknowns.

Just my 2 cents. YMMV.

Everybody BUT Consumer Report rates the infotainment centre very highly so I'm finding more and more these days to just ignore Consumer Report because they now seem to be based on one reviewer's very strong opinion. Using a dial is a bit different - sometimes I just use the touch screen even if you have to lean ahead a bit, but it's probably one of the best controllers out there - and you can use the touch screen if you prefer. It has a small learning curve, but it works fine after a few days of using it.

You'll find the GV70 is small in the back seat in comparison - and the mileage with the 3.5TT sucks. The 2.5T would still be quite a lot more power and the mileage would be closer to the SF.

Good luck in your choosing!

Sold the wife's Santa Fe at a local Carmax with a great price and used it for down payment of a 2022 (dealer demo) Mauna Red 3.5t Prestige with roughly 9k miles on the clock.
So far we're very happy with the purchase and the vehicle.

Congrats, buddy! Our both cars are red too! :ROFLMAO:

A few minor quirks so far...
HUD speed reading text display color is unchangeable. Yike!
Driver profiles are confusing when there are two drivers on the same darn car. E.g changed memory seat slot and phone list etc.
Connected Services is "not" connected.
Called Genesis support and after 15 minutes on the phone the CS agent decided to open a ticket with Genesis.
Will update the list when I find more of it and I truly do hope NOT.
Let's add a positive note to this though...
A big grin every time driving this vehicle when I compared to the Santa Fe's driving experiences.
Sorry SF! No comparison.

What is confusing? Don't you just switch to your user when you get in the car?

Tbh other than the seat selection, I think I would find it annoying having a different profile for everything than my wife - especially on road trips etc where you can only have one or the other profile and not shared radio presets etc. I mean I guess you could set up a 3rd profile but who has the energy to do and maintain that?

Nice upgrade - wife must be happy (probably not missing the extra space in the SF).

The next gen and boxier SF probably won't get much sportier, but it purportedly will get more off-road chops.
